Taken on the last day the zoo was open to the public in March 2020. It was an empty day and just before all the schools were out for Spring Break.
Later that evening we got news that the zoo was closing in response to the pandemic, so we were glad we decided to go on Friday!
I spent a cold hour on the pier playing with my favourate camera and also playing with my holga mask in B&W. (I'll post the mask images later)
So here come some more double exposures....................

Taken in the cathedral of Aachen. This shot symbolizes the state of the church. Here in Germany, local churches as closed because they fail to attract people with their ancient rituals and their overcome political and moral views. There's no point in preaching to empty rows.
The cathedral of Aachen, however, was not empty at all when I took it. But I had the impression that people came there to marvel at the wonderful artwork and architecture instead of seeking spiritual guidance.
Technically, I selectively darkened the image considerably and added some film emulation (including grain) and sepia toning using the wonderful Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.
Enjoy!
This is one of the test photo's I took with my new lens, which I
used during the entire vacation in Aosta so my arms were not extra burdened. Since I love a lot of empty space in a picture, I like this one, a SOOK.
The plant, in English called Common corn-cockle (I love that name!) is in The Netherlands found alongside the roads where it was sown to help the bees and butterflies on their route to another piece of land.

This is all empty?
I know what you're thinking, dear!

Empty hollandaise sauce jar, washed out for recycling, when I noticed the condensation inside the jar.
Although captured a bit before the pandemic, the picture is quite symbolic for the current situation.

A weathered soul, a silent sigh,
A house stands lone against the sky.
Where once a hearth held warmth and cheer,
Now emptiness and shadows peer.
The wind whispers tales untold,
Of laughter lost, of stories cold.
Each broken pane, a tear that's shed,
For dreams and days forever fled.
A storm brews high, a tempest near,
Yet fate's decree has long been here.
The house endures, a steadfast stand,
A monument to life's demand.
The clouds above, a heavy shroud,
Reflect the thoughts that linger 'round.
A haunting beauty, stark and bare,
A house of clouds, a soul laid bare.

Empty, like this room, like the reasons that brought me here, just now that I am on the edge of my personal event horizon, just now that time is so precious.
I really feel sorry for art gallery guards who have to spend their whole day in galleries mainly empty of visitors. I can't begin to imagine the boredom.
