An empty street in Sant Elm, Majorca. I applied a VSCO Velvia preset in Lightroom to give the colors some punch. I like the result pretty much and for once I think this is a shot that no monochrome conversion could beat.
Some might miss a storytelling element, but I don't. The emptiness to me is one of the key elements in this shot.
CSXT train B762 has 96 empty tanks and two spacers trailing a pair of Gevos curling west parallel to US Route 20 at about MP 119.5 on modern day CSXT's Berkshire Subdivision, the former Boston and Albany Railroad mainline. This train originated at the Port of Providence at the Shell tank farm on the Providence and Worcester Railroad then was handed off to CSXT for furtherance west to Chicagoland and interchange to CPKC.
The Western Railroad of Massachusetts opened this segment of railroad for business in 1841, and pushing two centuries later the route not only survives but reigns supreme as the busiest and only Class 1 trunk line into New England. The Boston and Albany Railroad was formed in 1870 when the companies to the east and west were merged into one railroad linking its two namesake cities. Despite being leased by the New York Central in 1900 the B&A name survived for another half century. The NYC itself would become the Penn Central in 1968 and the line would pass to Conrail in 1976 and become the property of its current owner, CSXT, in 1999.

During our recent Polar Vortex, our bird feeder was frequently empty. A few unreachable seeds at the bottom.

I've been meaning to do more black and white photography, but it's still a rare occurrence for me, and limited to landscape work. I feel like it can be fun to use black and white to play around with shapes and symmetry (not that one can't do that with colour, but I have been finding it more natural in black and white).

This Veterans Day there will be many empty appreciations. Many Veterans are told; thank you for your service. There will be politicians standing on podiums, giving speeches of appreciation. There will be parades, free dinners, media coverage and flags.
Then; all will go back to normal. Our politicians and the media will continue to use fear and propaganda to advance their military industrial funding. Our politicians will continue to allow federal agencies to systematically erode our constitutional rights. Our politicians will do everything in their power to advance their own self-interest. Our federal agencies will do everything in their power to suppress the truth. Communities will be rallied by propaganda, lies and innuendoes; to rid their neighborhoods of whistleblowers and those who will expose the truth. Halfwits and simpletons will be assembled to stalk, harass and psychologically torture those who speak out against corruption.
If you take the time to set down and talk to a Veteran; you will understand their frustration in where this country is heading. Most Veterans have a different perspective, outlook on humanity, on society. They have sacrificed, their families have sacrificed; mostly in silence, without complaint. They have a sense of self-worth; they look at each other as brothers and sisters. Their past doesn’t matter, their skin color, their religion. They are driven to protect; protect the person next to them, protect their families, protect their country, protect their constitution. They are taught to respect each other, to treat all people as human beings.
Then; they come home to the United States and see how self-centered our country has become. They see how self-serving our politicians are. They see how corrupt our government and corporations really are. They see a true lack of appreciation for their service.
I love this country, but we are being manipulated by Corporate America and our Government. We are being misled and lied to; we are on the wrong path. Last week a ninety year old man was arrested in Florida; for feeding homeless people in public. He has dedicated his life to helping others in need and is arrested for it. Is this what we have become? I am a Veteran; I see, I love this country and will not be silent.

The exhibit Empty Minds, represented a series of characters, the empty minds, with transparent heads and wheeled feet. They all had empty minds, but some of them might have some idea. If this happened a lightbulb appeared in their empty minds ... but, the law forced them to go to the machine to extract ideas.
So Empty minds do absurd things, but they are not very aware.
This sculpture represents a character with bags full of shoes, which in reality he does not need since he is supposed to move through a wheel.

for the shell that snaps,
emptying the proverbial pocketbook.

Haverfordwest town centre. Bridge over the river on a very quiet morning. I wanted to pics of people. There were so few around, I switched to landscape.

So Empty minds do absurd things, but they are not very aware.
This sculpture represents a character smelling a flower but, this flower doesn't seem to smell very good. If you look closely, even flies come for their aroma, but it does not seem to modify the behavior of this empty mind. For her the flowers used to smell good and she will smell the flowers forever, no matter what they smell.
