The Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing, also called the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge and Second Narrows Bridge, is the second bridge constructed at the Second (east) Narrows of Burrard Inlet in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Originally named the Second Narrows Bridge, it connects Vancouver to the North Shore of Burrard Inlet, which includes the District of North Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver, and West Vancouver. It was constructed adjacent to the older Second Narrows Bridge, which is now exclusively a rail bridge. Its construction, from 1956 to 1960, was marred by a multi-death collapse on June 17, 1958. The First Narrows Bridge, better known as Lions Gate Bridge, crosses Burrard Inlet about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) west of the Second Narrows.
a vague hint of city lights reflected back from an empty side room of a closed coffee shop
Its a vibe.
The Bicester village station was very quiet yesterday so I got this quick shot. It's very handy having the 5 axis image stabilisation on the Sony, this was handheld at 1/60 sec.
During summer, the cabins (Iltios-Stöfeli) are rather empty, it's not like it winter where the ski tracks attract thousands of people!
I quite like this view!

Just returned from a trip to the Empty Quarter in the UAE - fairly crazy adventure - stayed 4 days on my own in the desert - no people around for miles. My tent almost blew away the evening I took this image. Enjoy!

The Zollern colliery in Dortmund is one of the most beautiful testimonies to Germany's industrial past. An icon of industrial culture made of steel and glass is the machine hall with the stained-glass Art Nouveau portal. Discover the "Palace of Labor", look behind the magnificent brick facades, climb the headframe, follow the coal path and immerse yourself in a world of hard work underground.
I was on my way out from a temple in Bagan when I saw this girl. She was just crouching there still as a rock and gazing aimlessly at a dry open dirt ground. I only took a few shots because there was nothing in her eyes to capture. Came to realized later that it was the "emptiness" that was the main story of this photo. I could only hope that one day her faith would turn for the better and that the emptiness would be filled with happiness and joy.
An empty walking tunnel in Singapore. This is how you cross the street around the Singapore river, these tunnels actually are built under the streets.

The Moon Cannot Be Stolen
A Zen Master lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening, while he was away, a thief sneaked into the hut only to find there was nothing in it to steal.
The Zen Master returned and found him. "You have come a long way to visit me," he told the prowler, "and you should not return empty handed. Please take my clothes as a gift." The thief was bewildered, but he took the clothes and ran away.
The Master sat naked, watching the moon. "Poor fellow," he mused, " I wish I could give him this beautiful moon."

In 2022 this service still runs, with the same four wheelers but GBRF locos.
The fourth line has been re-instated and the route from Corby to Bedford has been electrified - see below.
