We are coming close to the end of our look at the old Mount Royal Hospital at Parkville in Melbourne. But there are some perspectives on this magnificent old 19th century structure I want to show you before we move on.
This shot is obviously all about lines and angles, light and shade. We are looking across this small inner quadrangle to the old nurses quarters (up that external staircase high on the building). But if we look straight down the hall past the bicycle, there is a lovely little bit of light streaming through a window into the dark passage. I've tagged it on the photo. It is a little element Vermeer would have loved.

Une barrière-vélo située à l’intersection de Laugavegur et de Vatnsstígur à Reykjavik, capitale de l’Islande. Ces barrières servent à délimiter une zone piétonne sur Laugavegur.
En arrière-plan, on aperçoit la murale ornant le mur latéral d’un magasin de vêtements pour homme situé au Laugavegur 34.
La rue Laugavegur est l'artère commerciale principale du centre-ville de Reykjavík et l'une des rues commerçantes les plus anciennes et possède une partie piétonne près du vieux centre. Le nom signifie "route de lavage", car jadis les femmes de Reykjavík (signifiant Smoky Bay ou Baie de fumée) l'empruntaient pour aller faire leur lessive dans les sources chaudes aujourd'hui situées dans Laugardalure Park.
Construite en 1885, elle a connu des revers économiques au cours des dernières années, principalement en raison de l'augmentation de la popularité des centres commerciaux. Elle conserve le charme d'une rue commerçante historique et présente plusieurs fresques et éléments décoratifs pittoresques. Il est également de nombreux bars, discothèques et restaurants. Le vendredi et le samedi soir la rue est souvent remplie de gens toute la nuit.
As part of my ongoing movie and TV vehicles project, lately I've been looking at flying vehicles. Korben Dallas' flying taxi, from The Fifth Element, seemed like an obvious option.
Testing my latest prototype. I got so carried away shooting that I forgot to try different apertures.
In case it isn't clear, this was shot against a plain black piece of felt. All that misty glow is a product of the lens.
Shot using the Johnnyopticon, a homemade two element soft focus tilt lens consisting of a 51 mm biconvex and a -167 negative meniscus on a flexible mount made from a bicycle inner tube.

Gisele: I am so excited when I found out that I got in the competition. My heart was racing and my skin covered in cold sweat when the cast announcement came out. For the first challenge, we got to do a photoshoot based on the natural elements. I got the water element. My inspiration for my photo is that I am a shy sea goddess while still looking elegant and sultry.
