La causa sono quelle gocce... L' effetto è quello che si vede in foto...

Here's a Cormorant in "ground effect" over the Haw River in North Carolina. Ground effect is an aviation term for being in a dense layer of air, close to the service, typically thought of as about half a wingspan from the surface. Inside this distance, the dense layer acts almost like a pillow, where the available lift dramatically increases, and you can fly, or glide with much less effort. You can see that the flying feathers of this birds right wing have just skimmed the surface.
Q328 emerges from a lake effect snow squall on what was otherwise a fairly uneventful day, weather-wise. Engineer Mike is crawling along with his 2 ES44AHs as the crew discusses with the RN dispatcher where the best place to meet Q329 will be, as both trains were very long on this day.

My neighbour Ken founded Ashleigh Signs, now an International signage company. Look at The Savoy and Hilton Hotels in London and thats an example of their work.www.ashleighsigns.co.uk/gallery/ Ken took me down to look around the premises and I got a few shots.
Ryan and everybody else were genuinely friendly. As you can see, Ryan moved his head at the wrong time but I like the effect :o)
When you paint with watercolour and add salt on it while the paint is still wet, this is the effect you will get. It made me smile when I saw that and had to capture it. I will go back tomorrow and attempt a macro shot with my point and shoot before it washes out by the rain. This is part of a bridge.
“Cause and effect, means and ends, seed and fruit cannot be severed; for the effect already blooms in the cause, the end preexists in the means, the fruit in the seed.”

Unfortunately I am hanging by a thread, but I wish you all a happy Easter and best regards.

Ich hänge leider am Faden, aber ich wünsche Euch allen ein frohes Osterfest und liebe Grüße. Der Hase.
Maybe a bit cliche, but the idea grabbed me and my son was (somewhat) willing. I first saw this effect used on Pink Floyd's Ummagumma album - released in 1969. I can't imagine how the photographer did it without the help of the computer programs we have today, but then again Pink Floyd always had cool album covers. The name Droste harkens back to the early 1900s when a company named Droste ran an advertisement of a woman carrying a tray with the product on it. Of course the product showed an ad of a woman carrying a tray with the product on it, and so forth.

Ground Effect is the name given to the positive influence on the lifting characteristics of the horizontal surfaces of an aircraft wing when it is close to the ground. This effect is a consequence of the distortion of the airflow below such surfaces attributable to the proximity of the ground.
It is optimal within a distance from the surface approximately equal to the width between the wing tips.
I believe birds use it too, but they weren't taught in a classroom but on the job.

I was trying to go for a surreal park setting that seemed to appear as if it was in a dream. It was rendered in a 3D landscape generator and then afterwords I did some post work on it in PSP X5... It was color process and I gave it that dreamy look. Hope you like it! Artwork by Dan Seitzinger Copyright (c) D.M.S Studios, DanMar Creations.

First quick attempt at a technique some Flickr friends have been working on for a while.
I just went my own way with THIS Gimp tut in Photoshop.
Thanks to Don for passing this tut on.

The "compression effect" is something that is around us that we don't really notice that much. The weird thing that happens when viewing a landmark from a distance. Currumbin Rock shot from about 800 meters away with a 500mm lens...the distant buildings of Surfers Paradise (about 20 kms away) appear bigger relative to the rock as you walk further away....thus giving the perception that the buildings are close to the rock....move closer to the rock and they shrink
Thank you for all the comments and faves, my friends.
Mock-up band shoot with Kane and Debbie for my media coursework.
Woo! fake band shoots in golden hour!
I think they'd make an awesome band, the Butterfly Effect :)
