For a long time, I have wanted to capture the JCB with a long exposure at high tide at sunset. This trip to Elgol with the intrepid members of the STS provided such conditions. But I hadn't anticipated the strong wind that carried sea spray up onto my camera lens! The 30 second exposure may have been too long, but I like the milky effect produced by the 10-stop filter and there was no need to smear Vaseline over the lens for that 'soft-focus' effect. By the time I thought to try something shorter to get some details of wave action, I found myself surrounded by the tripods of several members of the STS, and I was reluctant to get to my camera bag to return the filter, having left it well back from the precarious rocks. Lesson learned - always challenge the STS, and keep your camera bag close...
Played on new art styles, hope ya like ? ! :D

A theory that small actions can lead to large changes, positive or negative.

aka The Sydney Opera House.
Lit up for Vivid in lime green.
Photographed from the Cahill Walkway along the Sydney Harbour Bridge, just near the south-eastern pylon. This is my 'go to' vantage point. You can rest your camera on a sandstone (circa 1930) barrier.

"A ripple effect occurs when an initial disturbance to a system propagates outward to disturb an increasingly larger portion of the system, like ripples expanding across the water when an object is dropped into it."
This is not just a duck in a pond at sunset. It is a symbol of a phenomenon that we have all experienced directly in 2020. At one level the COVID-19 virus spread from one part of the world to everywhere very quickly like ripples on a pond. But not just the virus. The follow on effects of lock downs, loss of freedoms, jobs, security, pressure on medical systems, collapsing economies, all point to the ripple effect.
But ripple effects are not all bad either. In fact the same principle can lead to rapid solutions and even the healing of the world's woes. If we can find a way to create positive solutions to enhance the eco-system of our planet things can get better. But the choice is ours.
This is the Butterfly, a tower that is almost completed in downtown Vancouver. I couldn't get too near it as there was still a construction fence around it. Designed by Bing Thom (now Revery Architecture).
Here is a link to the website, showing what the entire building will look like when completed. westbankcorp.com/body-of-work/the-butterfly
On Bhogi, people discard old and derelict things and concentrate on new things causing change or transformation. At dawn, people light bonfires with logs of wood, other solid-fuels, and wooden furniture at home that are no longer useful.
Albrechtsburg Castle, Part Three.
This was the first of the five photos I took that evening in Meissen. Because this angle shows the castle more from the side, it becomes clear just how enormous the complex is.
What I find particularly captivating here is the orange glow. Normally, Albrechtsburg Castle is a brilliant white, which is also very impressive.
But as soon as the lights come on in the evening, the view changes completely.
And now, with the contrast to the blue hour atmosphere, the orange looks perfect.
What I also find interesting from this perspective is that it looks as if the castle is standing on the bridge, which, of course, it isn't.
This side effect, however, is pure coincidence. I chose my vantage point based on where I liked the foreground best.

The Labrador Effect
Back to my post from yesterday for HSoS.
First of all, I would like to thank all the lovely Flickrities for the wonderful comments on yesterday's topic - title wanted - , everyone could have been right.
In my tags I announced that there would be a second photo, actually I should have posted it the other way around, but then the story would be a lie :)
On an autumn walk I suddenly heard a noise and it was anything but heavenly. The little rascal growled violently and it sounded like this: "Don't dare to come closer, or my huge friend will hug you" :-) and indeed, there he was! I then went on quickly ;-))
Can you see it? It wasn't predictable, the Labrador Effect ;-)))
Thanks for visiting and time to watch, happy Sunday , stay healthy, all!
PS
The two dogs are very happy and live and guard on a small horse farm, with adjoining small pond, a paradise for anglers. I'm only sad myself because I couldn't stroke them.
It's been almost two weeks since I last posted a picture of my favorite tree. I think I can come up with another one now.
For everyone who sees it for the first time (which can't be many) the tree stands on the small mount Winter in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
When this photo was made, sunrise was still at least 30-45 minutes away. So I experimented a little to find a slightly different variant of the well-known composition.
The result was a shot from a little further away, so that the structure of the rocky ground and this small heather island also get some attention.
A small positive side effect is that by using a larger focal length (53 instead of the usual 35mm), the mountains in the background are moved a little closer and therefore have more effect.
So I can get used to this variant quite well.
