I snapped this shot of this double rainbow effect as we rounded Point Grey. It was caused by our main rotor wash and the low sun from the west. Both bands of color went full circle, but I did not have a wide enough lens to show the full effect.
The Upper Midwest has its lake-effect snow events from Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, and Lake Erie. Out here the mountains make their own weather and sometimes send it into town. This snow come from that storm that I took in the photo I titled "Storm Assault On Mountains" just below and to the right of this photo." Most of the time however, the snow is much, much deeper than this.
It's Saturday and I have time to play around a little. This is my second attempt at creating the Orton Effect with one of my pictures. There is a fine line between detail and softness when creating this. This effect definitely adds a nice glow to what ever you are doing.
The lake effect snow kicked in about 3am. The snowflakes were clumped together making huge dendrites.
Strange yellow sky at midday - the result of hurricane Ophelia lifting Saharan sand/dust into the atmosphere, or something.

This is a close up of the hall effect sensor that was originally on my motor on my bike. It is roughly equivalent to the Honeywell SS41 hall sensor series, although which type of SS41 sensor it nearest is up for debate. They produce a sensor labeled SS41F, which might perhaps be most similar, but is hardest to find. In the end I used SS41 and it worked fine. From everything I understand, the difference between the different sensors is not important for ebikes.
