even though the branches are totally random, when looking through them at a bright light source . the light (in this case, sun) glints off the branches that are perpendicular to the direction of the source, creating a circular effect . Like "T", where the base of the T is the light source, and the branches are the top of the T . You can see this effect in the fine scratches in the paint of a car around reflected light sources.. etc..

I went downtown last night to the Detroit River Days festival to check out one of my fav local bands: The Blue Effect. Ran into Cherie S. there too!
This is a two-exposure blend. The bottom layer is a shot of the band out of focus with lots of bokeh and the top is "traditional" shot.
