I've always been fascinated by science and anything related to it, and the other day I'd read up on a phenomena known as the Leidenfrost Effect. It's essentially what happens when water comes into contact with any surface that is significantly hotter than its boiling point. The immediate contact creates a vapor barrier between the surface and the water droplets, which actually slows the evaporative process and completely stops the water from merely boiling off the surface.
In this experiment, I decided to test it using a burner element and a reflective drip pan. The burner had been preheated on "High" mode for 10 minutes to allow for the drip pan to reach the Leidenfrost point. This droplet of water skittered around on the drip pan for a full minute before evaporating.

Skylights appear in right of photo due to photographer not being parallel to subject matter. This would have been better had I laid on the floor and taken photo straight on Had I done that I'd still be laying prone on the rotunda floor.
