This photo was modified from its original state through the use of the Orton Effect. This effect through use of blurring and exposure settings creates a dreamlike photo.

I am so tired.
I have a week left, then Wade goes back out to Woorabinda and I start to look after Mum full time.
She is completely off her leg for 6 weeks so during that time she will need help with things. And since I have a little one and Mum can no longer be her baby sitter, I have to give up work. My manager is a champion and fully understands that these things happen and hopefully after a couple of months I can go back a couple of nights a week, if I want.
Wade and I also talked about him going out of town for maybe a year to really save some $$$. It will be hard but anything for our future.
This is my first attempt to create an image with a dark "room effect". I am applying a technique that I have learned today in the photoshop support group.

Eastern Fox Squirrel; image from study of the effect of consumptive and non-consumptive recreation on mid-Atlantic wildlife.
I thought I'd try lithing only part of the image, to see if it would enhance the contrast between the old building (1600s maybe?) and the modern ones around it. Taken in Salisbury in the correct week, although I wasn't able to process it until today.
Created with PhotoSpiralysis using the mapping from Escher's "Print Gallery" (also known as the Droste-effect).

The Orton Effect, named after Michael Orton who first used the technique is a sandwich of two images, one in focus the other out of focus.
The Orton image has traditionally been done using slide film with the first, sharp, image overexposed by two stops and the second, out of focus image, over exposed by one stop. It is important to use a tripod for this type of work to ensure your photographic elements remain in register on the film. The shots were then sandwiched together in single slide mount to produce a beautiful, impressionistic image. We are beyond that now and with so many things in the world of digital photography, we can now duplicate the same effect in multiple ways.
Started with a color image, converted with cartoon filter on the "POP ART MACHINE" website. Tweaked it in "PS" and then converted it to vectors in "Vector Magic". Finished it with a "PS" ripple effect filter.
One of my first experiments with the Droste Effect, created using the Gimp and Mathmap after following the tutorial by Josh Sommers. The image is also an Anaglyph, so you’ll need a pair of red/cyan 3D glasses to see added depth.
