I would hope there is a reason these old pieces of timber appear to be dumped ... but who knows!!

Our Daily Challenge ~ Timberrrr ...

Stay Safe and Healthy Everyone!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!

As I said before, I ran out of sand. When I got it before, I got the sand, I picked it up using my fathers dump trailer. As it turns out, the sand was to heavy and I ended up having to unload most of it by hand.

I really did not want to do that again. To be honest, I am getting tired and cold:) and I have a torn shoulder that is awaiting a second surgery.

So, anyway, I convinced my wife to separate with the extra bit of money so we could pay to have the company deliver it. It was absolutely worth it to me!!! Thank you so much HAT CREEK CONSTRUCTION. They gave me a great deal and have always been kind!

As a bonus I got to see some machinery at work. I love big machines!

“It is impossible to change waste practices without implicating the self in a process of reflexivity, without asking people to implicitly or explicitly think about the way they live”

Infinite abundance is an illusion that remains central to expectations of choice in today's consumer culture. The market forces that wish to keep us shopping perpetuate this illusion but it is also an illusion in which we ascribe to, aiding in its perception. Cleanliness and beauty have been foregrounded as contemporary necessities and help to maintain the illusion of abundance. Modern society relies upon a contrived outlook of the world in which we constantly try to impose aesthetic order in every aspect of our lives. This requires us to throw things out so as to achieve such a sense of order, as Mary Douglas writes in Purity and Danger,

“Where there is dirt there is system. Dirt is the by-product of a systematic ordering and classification of matter, in so far as ordering involves rejecting inappropriate elements.'

Clothing store in De Pijp neighborhood of Amsterdam. It would work just as well spelled "Dumpstore", I think.

Short alleyway linking Carew Road and Dowsett Road, Tottenham. On 21 August 2014 there were three separate piles of remarkably manky rubbish.

One next to the bright yellow "No Dumping" sign and another two at either end of the alley.

Oh, yes. And there was also an improvised litter "bin" in a hole in one of the fences.

Any idea what type of car this is? I 1st saw this car from a train to Sheffield and decided I'd go investigate the next time I got a chance. So, today I had a little walk down the Calder & Hebble Navigation to see if I could find it. There's something strangely sinister yet magnetic about abandoned cars. Is it that some teenage joy riders took someones beloved runabout, or had someone deliberately dumped it when they couldn't afford to keep it on the road. Who knows?

With this stick you can modify your Apple TV without opening the case and removing the hard disk. It contains files from OS X 10.4.8, and while I would prefer to see a completely free and Darwin based stick, this is what is currently available.

This stick is created using the guide on the AwkwardTV wiki (04/16/2007 version): [url deleted as its not public domain.. yet]- all credits go to the authors there (Mactijn, Dobedobedoh, Hblaschka, Bjdraw, Aholtzma, Mikew, Skoops and Jason). I just cobbled it together.

This stick will automatically install and activate the Mac OS X ssh server on your device and also install the Perian Quicktime component (the latter is pretty useless until you install the Files Plugin for Apple TV). After you activated ssh, you can simply copy files to your Apple TV and modify it using tools like WinSCP or PuTTY.

....at Bourton Mill, Dorset. Who chucked that christmas tree in there!

Bourton lies on the River Stour which passes through the historic Bourton Mill, once home to the second largest water wheel (60ft in diameter) in Britain.

The mill, which is mentioned in the Domesday book, has had many incarnations. As a linen mill it processed flax and supplied canvas to the Royal Navy but when industry declined it was developed into a foundry with a blast furnace and was one of the first places to make the new threshing machines in the West of England. It went on to build boilers, steam lorries and gas engines as well as gaining a reputation as a builder of water wheels.

During the First World War Mills Bombs were produced here in vast quantities. After the Gasper dam burst upriver in the summer of 1917, much of the machinery was washed from the factory and it took a number of years for industry to re-start on the site. When it did return in 1933 the factory entered its final phase as a dried milk processing plant and this continued up until its closure in 1998.

It is now derelict with many of the oldest buildings in a state of collapse.

A typical mine dump cart, used to bring ore out of a horizontal adit for processing in the stamp mills.

Still a work in progress but we are getting there

Living in the country means weekly trash runs to the local dump. Very occasionally, I'll bring someone's castoff home...recycling is good ;-)

Day 91/365 - Dump Truck

Heavy weight dump truck, signified by the third test axle.

Row of Freightliner, Sterling, and Ford dump trucks.

This is a toy, but to me it looks like it could be real.

Molly enjoyed dumping the water with her bucket. Good thing there are drains on the outside of the pool too.
