This morning at Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park. Been some time since I've even touched my camera, but I really wanted to try to get out there this morning. There's been some storms coming through this week; the forecast looked like it would be passing by overnight, so I was thinking the light would be good this morning. I was right — the low-hanging clouds to the east provided the sun with an intense pinpoint lightshow on Hallett Peak. Really fun to watch it unfold.
Hope you're all well and not being as lazy as I have been lately. Jeez.

To be able to share that feeling with you
of soaring through skies, of endless blue,
and the warm wind as it lifts my wings,
that only the golden sunlight brings,
while I whistle a tune with each beat of my heart,
with the beauty of which, only birds can impart.

I was never thinking that the seascape shooting can be so adventurous like this morning. I went with Michael to Shelly Beach-Manly to take some shots but I must have misunderstood his email. Seriously, when he told me that this was going to be an adventure, he was right!!
We decided that instead of walking for half an hour to our destination we would take the shortcut via a steep road down to the cliff in pitch black darkness (5.30 am). Well Michael had a flash light and I forgot mine at home, bottom line – we finally reached our destination with some additional scars, bruises and scratches on my legs and feet. I had slipped a couple of times and fell despite my Spiderman powers and my new wet shoes!!
We met Oat ( Hangingpixels) and few more photographers; good thing is to see how many people enjoy photography, sunrise and seascape shooting.

As a was a student, about half a century ago (!), I had an impressive dream. The next day I took a coloured pencils and made this drawing . It is still on my wall.
Kao studentica, prije oko pola stoljeća (!), usnila sam dojmljiv san. Sljedećeg sam dana uzela bojice i naslikala ovaj crtež. Još stoji na mom zidu.

Hanging by the window,
the dream catcher waits,
to catch me a dream, that’s hopefully great.
Quiet and still, it waits in the night,
to catch a dream, traveling in flight.
Its web is of leather, its feathers light,
the magic it works, carries great height.
Will it bring me a lover, a funny story or song?
or, will it bring nightmares
where everything goes wrong…
The time is now near, for me to lie down
and wait for a dream that’s happy and sound.
Dream catcher, dream catcher,
caution you please,
my heart is now calm, my mind is at ease..

Have you ever seen this wonderful movie?
www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbT8s0rAZ6I
One of my very fave…just magic…
Maybe because I love horses more than every other animal…yes more than dogs too…
Maybe because this is the only movie that makes me feel something more than any other one…
Maybe because it’s just in my dreams…
Well…In the movie the kid has a little horse like this…
And he was told about the story of Bucephalus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucephalus)...
I know I tried this kind of shot with my cat but I needed to do this again!
Have a magic Thursday my friends!

''You ask me who I am
I'm from anywhere
You ask me where I'm going
I'm doing very well
Stupid questions, stupid answers
Learn the lesson
You ask me how much I make
I do my best
And how much is better?
This best is just perfect
You really want to know everything about me
If you want to have it all
What I don't even have
So go away, go away
You only asked for a shoulder
To lean you in my bed
In your blues
For me, it was easy in my head
I could sleep and maybe
Dream better, dream better
You ask me how I'm doing
I'm going in an old car
You ask me where I would go
I'll go where it's warm
Warmer than in winter, far from the polar
With loved ones in my heart
But you make me talk
Stop (stop, stop)
You only asked for a shoulder
To lean you in my bed
In your blues
For me, it was easy in my head
I could sleep and maybe
Dream better

Returning to the city in my dreams, it is mysterious and strangely beautiful. I know it and yet it is new to me - unsettling yet almost familiar. It reminded me of this quote from a favourite novel: “In my dreams of this city I am always lost.”
(Margaret Atwood "Cat's Eyes")

"Dawdler Dream" by Bambi Chicque ~Photo taken at THE SLEEPING SNAIL BY REBECA BASHLY
Away to the sea the Sleeping Snail watches calmly for no curse
to a folklore Princess.
All curiosity within one’s breath and first glimpse remains etched forever
in one’s soul and memory.
Be as slow as a snail and take pride as you enter a world of golden complex
with hints of surreal to real and back again.
To go “as slow as a snail” is rarely considered a good thing;
yet until you enter The Sleeping Snail by Rebeca Bashly.
♛
Spending 3 hours dangling, flying, gawking, spying and observing
did not feel like eternity as it was still not enough time spent
with a dream of a pure tangible sight to behold.

Dreams abound above Red Mountain reflecting over Crystal Lake in Ironton park. Last month this was the first stop in a whirlwind weekend I spent with Brad McGinley and Susan Humphrey and on this morning the added bonus of being joined by Ronda Kimbrow. There wasn't a cloud in the sky unfortunately, but there was also no wind what so ever and a nice layer of mist on the water.
I know there are those who disagree, but I originally decided to keep this shot shelved because the lack of clouds was a deal breaker for me. Something kept nagging at me about it. So, I processed it to the best of my ability and let it sit for a few days to give me a fresh set of eyes when I looked at it next. I thought of a bunch of different things to add some punch to it like a cloudy sky, or even silly things like a boat race but in the end went with the balloons I shot last year at the CO Springs Balloon Festival because it was a perfect morning for them.
Over the years I've had many discussions about altering photo's this way. I know many completely against it claiming that it breaks some sort of unwritten photography law and also many who assume nothing is real because the tools available allow such manipulation. As a landscape shooter I normally try to present the beauty of a scene as I "see" it, but on occasion will add to a photo's attraction in an effort to better the outcome when deemed necessary. I personally, don't have any problem with this and usually will disclose these improvements, like today. The only rule regarding this to me is when a photo is manipulated and denied. That, to me, breaks the unwritten rules of the game. If you care to share your thoughts on the matter I'd love to hear them.
