There are moments in photography that last only a fraction of a second… and if you miss them, they are gone forever.
As the sun was disappearing behind the clouds over the Mediterranean, this seagull crossed the sky wrapped in golden light.
For an instant, the sunset painted the wings with fire, turning an ordinary flight into something almost magical.
What fascinates me most about this image is the contrast between strength and serenity:
the powerful wings cutting through the air while the warm evening light softens everything around it.
Nature always gives us these fleeting gifts… but only if we slow down enough to see them.

As the sky clears, strong late autumn sunshine and a dark sky background create a dramatic view of these roadside larch trees at Wycliffe.
11 Days to wander the northern part of Norway on my own with only my camera and a rental car to keep my company. It was a magnificent road trip that took me to the tip of Lofoten, into the winding fjords of Senja, and through the surrounding fjords. The weather was challenging most days, but also delivered incredible natural light.

A monochrome hush holds her in its palm—hair sculpted in vintage waves, lips set with the quiet certainty of someone who has already outlived the world’s first impression of her. The chain around her neck glints like a promise she forged herself, heart shaped pendants catching the light as if they remember every vow she never voiced aloud. The contrast is deliberate, the shadows intentional: an old Hollywood invocation rendered with modern resolve. She is not posing; she is declaring—softly, steadily, without needing permission.

“The Monochrome Heart Ascends”
I.
She rises from the grayscale hush,
A figure carved from disciplined light.
Her silence is a blade sheathed in velvet,
Her gaze the doorway to an unwritten truth.
II.
The shadows gather like loyal witnesses,
Tracing the map of her unbroken calm.
She stands where memory meets intention,
Balanced on the edge of becoming.
III.
Her necklace gleams with quiet defiance,
Hearts forged in the furnace of resolve.
Metal remembers what flesh forgets,
And she wears that memory without apology.
IV.
Her hair curls like a whispered prophecy,
A reel of stories spooled in silver.
Every wave a testament to survival,
Every highlight a vow to rise again.
V.
She is the echo of a century’s glamour,
But her power belongs to the present.
No nostalgia can contain her,
No era can claim her silhouette.
VI.
Light drapes across her like a benediction,
A blessing earned through quiet endurance.
She stands unhurried, unshaken,
A portrait of strength disguised as stillness.
VII.
Her lips hold the weight of unspoken verdicts,
Truths she has no need to shout.
The world leans in, breath held,
Waiting for the moment she chooses to speak.
VIII.
She is the calm after a storm that learned her name,
The breath drawn before a decisive step.
Her presence is a disciplined radiance,
A fire that refuses to flicker.
IX.
In her eyes lives a myth of reclamation,
A woman returning to herself without ceremony.
The monochrome glow becomes her armor,
Soft, deliberate, and entirely earned.
X.
And so she stands—an oracle of quiet power,
A silhouette sharpened by intention.
In her stillness, the future rearranges,
Listening for the truth she carries.

Cave Dale Hike Pt.4:
Having admired Mam Tor from below, I set to climbing the steep route up the southern edge of the collapsed section of the hill. This route provided an amazing up-close view of the geology of the hill and a stunning vista across Windy Knoll and towards Eldon Hill.
The weather had turned overcast and for the preceding hour it looked like the light was going to remain flat, the cloud eventually broke in dramatic fashion spilling dappled golden hour light across the land below. A hectic set-up ensued and I was lucky enough to pretty much have a ready-made composition in front of me; with nice lines coming in from the right and a few layers within the landscape to add some depth.
The photo club that I belong to in San Diego has a contest next January in which the subject is food. These were sitting in a bowl in the kitchen, so I thought it was time to start practicing.
I wanted dramatic directional light so I lit this with a YN560-II in a softbox camera right at 2 o'clock as the main light, and a YN560 in a softbox camera left at 5 o'clock for a little fill light. The strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by a Tiny Trigger. I varied the flash power until I got a look that I liked. I also did a black and white version of this, but it's hard to tell what kind of fruit it is without the color.
Other plants, flowers, or fruit that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. <a www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/...
It's that tree again. Probably the last photo of this tree for Autumn 2008.
The sun came out briefly earlier and lit the tree up.
This is a wider view of the scene, thanks to a new wide angle lens.

Before the untamed force of Skógafoss, one can only surrender to awe.
The mist rises like a sigh from the earth, and the roar of the water echoes in the chest.
The human figures, small and shadow-like against the majesty of the fall, seem to move toward a portal of light.
In black and white, the scene becomes timeless—almost unreal.

Most of you know by now how I love 'playing' with light, a never ending beautiful challenge, food for my creative soul, lol... Flowers are a great 'subject' because of their diversity.
Contrary to what many think: I AM NOT A FLOWER PHOTOGRAPHER!
Just A photographer.
I love my job, but contrary to what most 'enthusiasts' think, and wish it was their 'job', pro photographic work is often boring, the clients tell you what they want, if they know what they want, which is not always the case, that, or they DO know and just can't bring it across, there's not much space for personal input (not by lack of trying!!!).
This here is my FREEDOM!
Each flower seems to have a different 'personality' which I'm trying to capture.
Each time I think... that's it, there's only so much you can do with flowers... and yet again and again, I'll see something new.
Being creative is not a choice... it is an urge in me.

Why not view the set as a slide-show?
Also I often upload more than one image at the same time, I see a tendency to only view the last uploaded... ...
I would like to ask how you would describe this photo. Look at the image and try to describe what I want to tell you through this image. Thanks.

Arguably the best view in Teesdale, this panorama is looking north from Harker Hill. Strong winter sunshine on the landscape with the east end of of Middle Side above Middleton centre left, and part of Snaisgill centre right. Staight ahead is the Hudes Hope valley with Club Gill farm at the head of it standing out nicely. A dark grey sky as the overnight mist and fog lifts creates a dramatically lit scene. This shot was taken close to 9:30 PM as the last rays of light were casting deep shadows across the landscape. I was using my long lens with a 1.4x converter to focus in as close as possible. I spotted this scene earlier I the evening but it wasn’t nearly as dramatic as this capture. If you’ve never been there I would highly recommend a visit to this area (Palouse). It’s a landscape photographers dream.
A horn crowned sentinel rises from the forest’s breath, armored in gold filigree and dusk forged resolve. Her wings unfurl like ancient decrees, casting shadow and omen across the moss lit clearing. She is neither villain nor savior, but the hinge between worlds — the one who remembers the old pacts and enforces the forgotten laws.
This portrait captures the moment before judgment, when the sword lowers and the forest holds its breath, awaiting the verdict of a queen carved from myth and midnight.
________________________________________
I.
She steps from the hush of the green veiled deep,
Where roots whisper names the sky cannot keep.
Her wings are decrees from an age before flame,
Her sword is the ledger that remembers each name.
II.
Gold sigils shimmer like vows on her skin,
A covenant etched where the wild begins.
The forest leans close, as if eager to hear
The verdict she carries from far older spheres.
III.
Her horns curve like crescents of unbroken night,
Twin crescents that anchor her sovereign right.
She is the hinge where the dusk meets the dawn,
The keeper of balance when boundaries are drawn.
IV.
No tyrant, no martyr, no creature of spite—
She governs the shadows that temper the light.
Her presence is law in its purest design,
A justice that predates the concept of time.
V.
The mist gathers round her in reverent folds,
A choir of breath from the moss covered old.
They rise in devotion, in fear, in respect,
For she is the force they cannot reject.
VI.
Her blade hums softly with memory’s weight,
A chronicle forged at the threshold of fate.
It sings of the fallen, the faithful, the lost,
Of choices made sacred by consequence and cost.
VII.
Yet mercy still lingers in the tilt of her gaze,
A warmth that survives through the darkest of days.
For power means nothing without the restraint
To cradle the fragile, to pardon the faint.
VIII.
So she stands in the clearing, a myth made of breath,
A sovereign who governs both life and its death.
And the forest, eternal, bows low in reply—
For even the wild must honor the sky.
