A particularly vivid rainbow at Eggleston, Teesdale on New Year's Day 2023
A blazing sun hangs over a darkening ocean, carving a golden trail across the water. In the foreground, silhouettes stand against the glow; anonymous, timeless, and suspended between day and night.
It was a very dark and rainy week. The sun was nowhere to be found...for days. Clouds and overcast weather systems rolled by endlessly, with hardly any color in the sky at all. We were blanketed by a low cloud-covered ceiling. It was a very good opportunity to do some black and white images with some textures and moody feeling. What else was I going to do? I didn't need my sunglasses and there was no glare...anywhere. I had to "time it" between the constant showers that were all over the place. It was gloomy and different...yet still fun. A striking green iguana captured in a moment of calm, resting on a branch under soft, directional light.
Photographed at the ZooParc de Beauval (France), this image highlights the reptile’s vivid green tones and textured scales with precision and depth.
Shot with a telephoto lens to enhance background separation and draw full attention to the subject.
Everything aligned for this portrait – light, texture, detail, and composition.
Any feedback or constructive criticism is very welcome – I’d love to improve and grow.
We were out photographing and we were walking in the city Xanten, suddenly out of nowhere this leaf fell on the ground and it just lay there. I grabbed my camera and shot the leaf, this is a once in the leaf lifetime opportunity.

Europe - Scandinavia - Norway - North of the Arctic Circle - Lofoten Island - Moskenes - Hamnoy - Hamnøy - Picturesque fishing village under fresh cover of snow during pink sunset
Guilty as charged - one of the most photographed locations on Lofoten, but I simply could not help myself, because if there is A place to stay in Lofoten, it surely must be these cabins which might look like those traditional fisherman cabins from outside... but they are no longer anything like that inside. Wonderful interior, very different from when we stayed there 10 years ago.

This is my husband and one of my kitties gazing out the window watching the first snow fall. I thought I would try spot metering, partly because everyone I talk to about it says don't use it; and, I was hoping to get some dramatic lighting.

A lone fisherman paddles gently across the still waters as the late afternoon sun pierces through dramatic clouds, casting heavenly rays over the quiet landscape. The winding road runs alongside the calm expanse, symbolizing the meeting of human journey and nature’s timeless rhythm. Captured on a peaceful day when the world felt paused between storm and sunshine.
Near Cherai Beach, Kerala, India, 2025
This is the chezz feeling
a whisper from my uncle’s voice,
etched in quiet lessons of foresight.
He taught me to think before I move,
because in two or twenty turns,
the board reshapes,
life complicates,
and what matters isn't just the move,
but the soul behind it.
In this picture
an eye, caught in check,
like fate staring back
from the corner of a square,
reminding me that
to live well is to play wisely.
So I offer you this moment,
this thought:
What was your latest checkmate?
A decision made that sealed the game,
or a realization that opened the board?
Share your move
I’ll be watching the play unfold.

Jill's blue gaze and minimalist aesthetic. The high-contrast lighting and simple background draw attention to the subject's striking features and emotional depth.
beneath the arcades of palma, silence holds her steady, the glow of the pavement painting a stage for her cigarette pause. the world moves on, but here, in silver and shadow, time lingers.

As it seems that not only the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon itself is very photogenic, but also its surrounding. As I was heading for the sunset to the lagoon, I noticed wonderful and absolutely still reflection in one of those small ponds that are along the road towards the lagoon. Who would not stop for scene like this.

Europe - UK - United Kingdom - Scotland - Western Scottish Highlands - Western Ross - Loch Gairloch in North-West Highlands of Scotland - Sea loch with awe-inspiring scenery at dramatic sunset
Timelapse movies had become my new way of capturing my travels besides regular photography. I did both a color and black and white version of this image. Down below in the comments you can see the black and white version. You can click on it to view it larger.
I lit this with one YN560-III in an 8.6 inch Lastolite softbox above and to the right of the flower. Fill light came from a small hand mirror at camera left. The flash, in manual mode, was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N. While the Lastolite soft box is relatively small for a softbox, because it's much larger than the subject and also within 4 inches of it, the light on the flower is very soft.
