While out and about racing up and down the streets of L.A. running my errands, I crossed paths with a movie set crew a couple of times on Angeles Vista Blvd in the View Park / Windsor Hills area while headed back to my domicile in the Diablo Mesa dark side of town. I popped off some photos and did a little of the- "get outta here you don't belong"- snooping around.
The Los Angeles Terminal Annex post office was the central mail processing station from 1940 to 1989. The building was designed by Gilbert S. Underwood, a Spanish Mission Revival. Became a historical landmark in 1985. It is located down town on Alameda Street next to the Los Angeles Union Train Station.
"We want to be free... Free to ride our machines without being hassled by the man!" It started out with old classics and lowriders and Harleys converging on the bridge and a car show broke out. Then some knuckle head brought unnecessary attention to the whole thing by lighting a smoke canister / bomb. From the distance I guess it looked as if some one was doing a burn out. The L.A.P.D. comes and breaks up the show. But as the photos prove the SHOW still went on.... UNDER THE BRIDGE.
Leonard Nimoy was born on March 26, 1931 in Boston, Massachusetts in the West End, to Yiddish-speaking Orthodox Jewish immigrants from Ukrain, once part of the Soviet Union.
He began acting at the age of eight in children's and neighbourhood theatre. His parents wanted him to attend college and pursue a stable career, or even learn to play the accordion—with which, his father advised, Nimoy could always make a living—but his grandfather encouraged him to become an actor. His first major role was at 17, as Ralphie in an amateur production of Clifford Odets' Awake and Sing! Nimoy took drama classes at Boston College in 1953 but failed to complete his studies, and in the 1970s studied photography at the University of California, Los Angeles. He had an MA in Education from Antioch College, an honorary doctorate from Antioch University in Ohio[15] and an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Boston University.
Nimoy served as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1953 through 1955,[17] alongside fellow actor Ken Berry and architect Frank Gehry.
Nimoy's film and television acting career began in 1951. After receiving the title role in the 1952 film Kid Monk Baroni, a story about a street punk turned professional boxer, he played more than 50 small parts in B movies, television series such as Perry Mason[ and Dragnet. In fact, think of any popular TV series and he was in it,even if only for a few episodes.
Leonard was in so many TV series it would be hard to list them all. He and Star Trek co-star William Shatner first worked together on an episode of The Man from U.N.C.L.E., "The Project Strigas Affair" (1964). Their characters were from opposite sides of the Iron Curtain, though with his saturnine looks, Nimoy was the villain, with Shatner playing a reluctant U.N.C.L.E. recruit.
Leonard's greatest prominence came from his role in the original Star Trek series. As the half-Vulcan, half-human Spock—a role he chose instead of one on the soap opera Peyton Place—Nimoy became a star, and the press predicted that he would "have his choice of movies or television series". He formed a long-standing friendship with Shatner, who portrayed his commanding officer, saying of their relationship, "We were like brothers." Star Trek was broadcast from 1966 to 1969. Nimoy earned three Emmy Award nominations for his work on the program.
He went on to reprise the Spock character in Star Trek: The Animated Series and two episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation. When a new Star Trek series was planned in the late 1970s, Nimoy was to be in only two out of eleven episodes, but when the show was elevated to a feature film, he agreed to reprise his role. The first six Star Trek movies feature the original Star Trek cast including Nimoy, who also directed two of the films. He played the elder Spock in the 2009 Star Trek movie and reprised the role in a brief appearance in the 2013 sequel, Star Trek Into Darkness.
Spock's Vulcan salute became a recognized symbol of the show and was identified with him. Nimoy created the sign himself from his childhood memories of the waykohanim (Jewish priests) hold their hand when giving blessings.
In 2003, he announced his retirement from acting to concentrate on photography, but subsequently appeared in several television commercials with William Shatner for Priceline.com. He appeared in a commercial for Aleve, an arthritis pain medication, which aired during the 2006 Super Bowl.
Leonard Nimoy died on February 27, 2015 in his Bel Air home from final complications age 83 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD.

Hey we are filming here you can not take pictures here. Who are you and who are you with? I'm no body.
You don't look like a nobody with that camera and large lens. You need to delete those pictures now.
Sez who, it's a public street I aint on your property.
You need to go now no more pictures and delete your pictures.
What about the car, are you going to start it up, what's it sound like, are the pipes for decoration or does the car sound like somethin' mean.
No you need to go now, no we are not going to start the car.
Well why don't you put a tarp up on the fence so when people drive by they can't see what you are doing.

WILL REOPEN SOON
Los Angeles, CA. UP DATE :
It's been a long time coming and downtowners eagerly are awaiting the reopening of Angels Flight, the funicular railway between Hill Street in the Historic Core to the California Plaza atop Bunker Hill. In fact, people are so eager that last week the Downtown News wrote an editorial saying "it is time for local government officials to insert themselves into the process so the funicular can reopen," citing a 2001 tragedy that killed one and left the "shortest railway in the world" stagnant as they rebuilt, financed and began to get ready for a reopening, which should be soon.
In response to the downtown paper, Dennis R. Luna and John H. Welborne from the Angels Flight Railway Foundation fought back and had their side of the story reprinted. The government is already "intimately involved" and there is no need to bring in the city or Mero, they say. "Angels Flight will reopen soon, but only after experts certify it is safe for the unique funicular to do so and the [California Public Utilities Commission] concurs. Involving additional non-expert elected officials or city or county agencies (including the heavy-rail and light-rail experts at Metro) is not the way to clear hurdles and speed the reopening."
In fact, they say that when city hall got involved with Angels Flight in 1962, it was open for seven years, then closed until 1996 when the foundation took it over and ran it "16 hours every day, seven days every week and 365 days every year. Over 800,000 passenger trips were clocked each year, for a total of 4 million passenger trips in the five years following the 1996 reopening." And all while keeping the fare at a quarter per ride (they secured outside money, too), which they hope to keep the same when it opens this year.
And then there's your first night on the beat. When you try to arrest a drunken prostitute in a Main St. bar and she rips your new uniform to shreds. You'll buy another one.......... out of your own pocket.

"Dragnet"
And the heartbreak-- underfed kids, beaten kids, molested kids, lost kids, crying kids, homeless kids, hit-and-run kids, broken-arm kids, broken-leg kids, broken-head kids, sick kids, dying kids, dead kids. The old people nobody wants-- the reliefers, the pensioners, the ones who walk the street cold, and those who tried to keep warm and died in a $3 room with an unventilated gas heater. You'll walk your beat and try to pick up the pieces.

A fire broke out early Friday morning (4/26/13) about 2 am at the Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church in the Windsor Hills / Leimert Park area on the 4900 block of Crenshaw Blvd. Residence near by said they heard an explosion. It took 80 firefighters a little under an hour to put the fire out. The main building was completely gutted by the fire. The south wing of the church facility and Bethesda Senior apartments/home next door suffered little or no damage. LAFD Arson Investigators, FBI and the ATF are still looking into the cause, but fire officials say the fire does not appear to be criminal in nature, and there are no signs of foul play at this time. 7 months earlier I was just two blocks east and got pictures of another church fire in the HYDE PARK area at 11th Ave. & 48th st. Galilee Baptist Church was completely gutted by a fire. I still can't get a clear answer as to what caused that fire. If anyone knows for certain please leave a comment.
