Slauson and Angeles Vista

taken with my old ROLLIE ROLLIFLEX 35 MM SLR

Hey we are filming here you can not take pictures here. Who are you and who are you with? I'm no body.

You don't look like a nobody with that camera and large lens. You need to delete those pictures now.

Sez who, it's a public street I aint on your property.

You need to go now no more pictures and delete your pictures.

What about the car, are you going to start it up, what's it sound like, are the pipes for decoration or does the car sound like somethin' mean.

No you need to go now, no we are not going to start the car.

Well why don't you put a tarp up on the fence so when people drive by they can't see what you are doing.

The Los Angeles Terminal Annex post office was the central mail processing station from 1940 to 1989. The building was designed by Gilbert S. Underwood, a Spanish Mission Revival. Became a historical landmark in 1985. It is located down town on Alameda Street next to the Los Angeles Union Train Station.

"We want to be free... Free to ride our machines without being hassled by the man!" It started out with old classics and lowriders and Harleys converging on the bridge and a car show broke out. Then some knuckle head brought unnecessary attention to the whole thing by lighting a smoke canister / bomb. From the distance I guess it looked as if some one was doing a burn out. The L.A.P.D. comes and breaks up the show. But as the photos prove the SHOW still went on.... UNDER THE BRIDGE.

Demolition after Implosion to weaken the structure for final tear down. If you gotta see your ponies race you still have Del Mar and Santa Anita race tracks to go see them run. Now that this demolition is taking place people are hopeful that we'll get a NFL team coming back to the L. A. area. Hmmm foot ball, golf, tennis, baseball.... sorry I rather watch grass grow, what we need is a drag strip, a motocross park, monster truck stadium a low rider park and show car arena all rolled into one.

Crenshaw Center shops and anchor stores like Broadway Dept store, May Co., Woolworth and many retail stores opened in November 1947. Then in 1988 got a major remodel including a pedestrian walk way that connected the Broadway with the May Co. Dept. stores that crossed over Martin Luther King Blyd. (formerly Santa Barbara Blvd.)

Currently closed/ simi open new stores retail businesses on hold due to Covid-19.

The Los Angeles City Hall has been used as a backdrop for many filming projects. This time it stood in as the court house where Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) practices law in the 1997 comedy "Liar Liar". It was also used as the county jail when Fletcher gets arrested. The South side of the building is shown here.

Back in the early '70s, Steve Tansy and Chuck Miller built the pint size cars with full size V8 engines, they were called " ZINGERS".

After eight trips to Burning Man and 23 years of federal service, BLM Law Enforcement Officer Peter Fonken marks his last burn before he retires in October. Perimeter “Trash Fence” artist and Burner, Dragnet, created a special art piece to recognize Peter’s dedication to ensuring a safe event for participants while protecting public lands for future generations.

Peter, who is stationed at the Central Coast Field Office in California’s Monterey Bay area, said his favorite thing about Burning Man is the people. “It’s great getting to meet and know creative and interesting people,” he said.

Keep Hope alive......wishful thinking

"Man was made to Mourn"

'Many and sharp the num'rous ills

Inwoven with our frame!

More pointed still we make ourselves

Regret, remorse, and shame!

And Man, whose heav'n-erected face

The smiles of love adorn, -

Man's inhumanity to man

Makes countless thousands mourn!

author Robert Burns

Korean Friendship Bell in San Pedro

Angeles Gate Park

This beautiful 18 ton monster of a bell with elaborate engravings cut into it and the pavilion it sits in was donated by South Korea to the U.S.A. to commemorate our country's Bicentennial in 1976. The bell is modeled after the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok the Great of Silla (also known as the Emille Bell).

A fire broke out early Friday morning (4/26/13) about 2 am at the Bethesda Temple Apostolic Church in the Windsor Hills / Leimert Park area on the 4900 block of Crenshaw Blvd. Residence near by said they heard an explosion. It took 80 firefighters a little under an hour to put the fire out. The main building was completely gutted by the fire. The south wing of the church facility and Bethesda Senior apartments/home next door suffered little or no damage. LAFD Arson Investigators, FBI and the ATF are still looking into the cause, but fire officials say the fire does not appear to be criminal in nature, and there are no signs of foul play at this time. 7 months earlier I was just two blocks east and got pictures of another church fire in the HYDE PARK area at 11th Ave. & 48th st. Galilee Baptist Church was completely gutted by a fire. I still can't get a clear answer as to what caused that fire. If anyone knows for certain please leave a comment
