While cleaning out our garage a few weeks ago, I came across this yellow legal pad full of my handwritten study notes for the Ohio bar examination in February, 1993. The bar examination is an instrument of cruel and diabolical torture which, in my view, should be outlawed by the Geneva Convention, and probably other international treaties and conventions as well. I have sat for two such examinations, with successful results both times. (The other was in Utah in July, 1983.) I spent about 700 hours studying for the Ohio exam, and ended up with one of the highest scores among the 500-plus applicants who took it when I did, but that didn't matter; I wouldn't have cared if I had a much lower score, as long as I passed the thing.
I no longer practice law, having discovered the hard way that I hated the practice even more than I did the preparation for it; and while I don't rule out the possibility of taking the Arizona exam at some point, I think that is highly unlikely. I have no intention of ever practicing again here or anywhere else, and at age 53, I just don't think I have a third bar exam in me at this point.
This particular section of my notes covered Federal income taxation, which was a topic on the Ohio exam but not Utah's. Although not quite as terrifying as I had intended it to be, the death's-head emblem near the upper left-hand corner expresses my dread of this particular subject. I briefly entertained fantasies about becoming a tax attorney -- until I took a tax class in law school and quickly concluded that whatever my future entailed, it would not center around this complex and arcane subject.

One of the theories to debate why Dumbledore trusted Snape. Friends and I debating online here in the US and in Scotland, awaiting the final book. Its a mystery, a big puzzle and there is nothing like a good puzzle.
I believe Snape is the ultimate 'poker' player. He has kept his cards close and has really not belied his true persona yet.
I call this lettering style antique - it's my own creation derived from 'Batarde' calligraphy... a mixture of gothic and italics... but I wasn't sure if many brides would choose 'Batarde' to go on their wedding invitations so I changed the name!

Here I am documenting the making of Urda (Orda in Hungarian). As these are Szekely shepherds I will stick with orda. Here is a link to the subject on Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urd%C4%83

Waterlogging has occurred in various parts of Chittagong due to continuous heavy rain, waterlogging has occurred on various roads of Chittagong city due to heavy rain. It has caused severe traffic jam on the road. Due to flooding, almost half of the city's roads and streets are submerged in water. One of the causes of this water pollution is plastic polythene cokesheets and man-made waste, such as many shops selling one-time cups and polythene packaging products. After using that product, as there are no bins in the shops, the packaging is thrown directly by the shopkeepers and common people into the streets or drains. As these packaging products are non-biodegradable, they accumulate in drains and increase the intensity of waterlogging.
I was never a bus spotter, number jotter in the sense of standing on street corners, or in bus stations recording numbers, but I did occasionally make notes to assist my photography and understanding of the general fleet movements of the time. This is one of the surviving records I have, listing withdrawn buses in Adderlely Street bus compound at Deritend, Birmingham on 28/9/1983.
The document also records the mechanical completeness/incompleteness of the vehicles, but fails to record the bodily condition. I know that on other lists I compiled that I used the abbreviation 'CAN' for buses that had bodies cannibalised for parts. There again, the photographs I took would have indicated the state of the bus bodies. The list is fairly self-explanatory, but for clarification:
NE = No engine
NG = No gearbox
NEG = No engine or gearbox
C = mechanically complete (It did not mean that the vehicle was a runner)
I don't know if these musings are of interest, but I thought that I would share a few of them, especially for those who can recall such events in the West Mids 30+ years ago.
