Another quote about experiential learning: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

This beautiful leather-bound certificate was presented to Mrs. Nellie Mobsby in 1950 in appreciation for the generous gift of an annual medal for the student who achieved the highest percentage in the year 8 scholarship public examination. It appears to have begun in 1916 and lists each year's recipient. (except for 1917)

Mr and Mrs Henry Mobsby gave this prize in memory of their son Arthur who was attending the school at the time of his death in 1905.

It reads " Dear Mrs. Mobsby, On behalf of the Committee, Teachers and Scholars of the Indooroopilly State School, we desire to express their appreciation of the generous impulse that prompted you to donate, annually, a commenorative medal for presentation to the scholar of this school who obtains the highest marks in the State Scholarship examination. The medal, affectionately called the Mobsby Medal is much courted, is an incentive to greater effort and creates a friendly rivalry among the candidates. We wish you to accept this acknowledgement of your valuable gift and as a token of our esteem."

Winners of the Mobsby Medal from 1916 to 1950 -

There was also a Mobsby Memorial Book Prize presented to a student for general proficiency.

Some things were more fun before computers. Kindergartners checking out library books was one of those things.

I started using a Bullet Journal to keep track of to-dos and meeting notes and really, really, love it.

My father's grandfather's mother, kőrösi Medgyessy Judith (wife of sárbogárdi Mészöly András) - she died at 90, in Tabajd, 1887, April 17th.

This is the oldest obituary I have in my family collection - but I have some older family documents as some birth certifications which are from the 1850s-1870s.

Sadly I have no photos of my great-great grandparents, only of the next generations.

Great-great-grandmother, a noble woman, daughter of kőrösi Medgyessy Pál, a Calvinist priest in Nagykőrös - was wife of my great-great-grandfather, sárbogárdi Mészöly András, who was the first pastor in the family, founder and builder of Tabajd Calvinist church in 1833. Until then they had been only landlords as noblemen. He became a notable Calvinist priest in Fejér County (as many other men of this side of the family, all of them in Fejér County).

They had three children, my great-grandfather Pál was the second in the row (he became a Calvinist pastor too, and also worked and lived in Tabajd, married with Farkasdy Laura) .

Their first child, a boy (Gedeon) died before the age of 4.

Their only daughter, a bit older than my great-grandfather, was Terézia Apollónia (her nickname was Póli), she married with Sohár Pál.

Tabajd was my grandfather's and father's birthplace.

My great-great-grandparents, sárbogárdi Mészöly András and kőrösi Medgyessy Judith married in Nagykőrös, on 27th May of 1823.

I have photos only of the mourners, I put them in my comment below.
