Again, you do not see many of these nowadays - I just thought it was worth sharing.

It reads:
"Please note correct address not 'hill' on the Sunning. Hope you did not get a scare last night we heard guns at 8.30 we thought. Am looking for PC [postcard] later[?] from you - no news from France this morning. Kids are very good an obedient. No idea when the others will be back. Love MaR"
I was hoping someone would be able to transcribe the sender's name, as this is the sender of a large number of the 100+ cards in this album. I'd originally thought it might be Mark or Matt, but EastMarple1 (see comment below) spotted the fact that it was to a Mrs Ripley rather than Miss, and that it could be MAR, the initials of Margaret Adele Ripley. So she was the sender rather than the recipient.

This is a shot of a transcript by my mother of an exam I wrote. She could hardly read my handwriting so she copied it in order to read it in a row rather than word by word.
The exam was 1+ by the way (highest score possible). This is not to brag about how great I am (as I personally don't think so) but rather to show my love concerning philosophy.

An early day ad for Palace Drug Store. Believe from 1895. W. T. Howell and J. W. Wilkerson, proprietors of Palace Drug, were doctors and druggists, and brothers-in-law. Dr Wilkerson died 1896. Circa 1907 Dr. Casper H Smith's father took over ownership of Palace Drug. He was Casper H Smith Sr.
While cleaning out our garage a few weeks ago, I came across this yellow legal pad full of my handwritten study notes for the Ohio bar examination in February, 1993. The bar examination is an instrument of cruel and diabolical torture which, in my view, should be outlawed by the Geneva Convention, and probably other international treaties and conventions as well. I have sat for two such examinations, with successful results both times. (The other was in Utah in July, 1983.) I spent about 700 hours studying for the Ohio exam, and ended up with one of the highest scores among the 500-plus applicants who took it when I did, but that didn't matter; I wouldn't have cared if I had a much lower score, as long as I passed the thing.
I no longer practice law, having discovered the hard way that I hated the practice even more than I did the preparation for it; and while I don't rule out the possibility of taking the Arizona exam at some point, I think that is highly unlikely. I have no intention of ever practicing again here or anywhere else, and at age 53, I just don't think I have a third bar exam in me at this point.
This particular section of my notes covered Federal income taxation, which was a topic on the Ohio exam but not Utah's. Although not quite as terrifying as I had intended it to be, the death's-head emblem near the upper left-hand corner expresses my dread of this particular subject. I briefly entertained fantasies about becoming a tax attorney -- until I took a tax class in law school and quickly concluded that whatever my future entailed, it would not center around this complex and arcane subject.

This is the companion poster to the first document, and is a flow chart for prioritisation procedue, i.e. triage. There are many such real-life charts in existence, the best (in my opinion) is the SMART one produced by TSG and utilised by the British military (the one I am most familiar with), as well as various Police, Fire, Ambulance and other emergency services across the world. However, whilst their chart is neat, simple and tidy, that didn't seem to fit the bureaucratic mess of the 41st millennium. So, I went for a slightly older, somewhat abtuse system that was also easier to produce with my limited graphical technology at present - had I been at my own PC I could have easily replicated the SMART system in seconds. Real-life nicely mirrored the anachronistic, archaic tech of the dark future
A must for all Imperial medical personnel, from medics and nursing staff to the Chirurgeon-General.

This storm cloud has to be the best I've even seen. Amazing!
How big was this cloud? well if you look closely, you can see a plane approaching the airport to the right.
Now you know why my gear comes with me everywhere I go.

About Clouds
A cloud is a visible mass of droplets, in other words, little drops of water or frozen crystals suspended in the atmosphere above the surface of the Earth or another planetary body. A cloud is also a visible mass attracted by gravity, such as masses of material in space called interstellar clouds and nebulae. Clouds are studied in the nephology or cloud physics branch of meteorology.
On Earth the condensing substance is typically water vapor, which forms small droplets or ice crystals, typically 0.01 mm (0.00039 in) in diameter. When surrounded by billions of other droplets or crystals they become visible as clouds. Dense deep clouds exhibit a high reflectance (70% to 95%) throughout the visible range of wavelengths. They thus appear white, at least from the top. Cloud droplets tend to scatter light efficiently, so that the intensity of the solar radiation decreases with depth into the gases, hence the gray or even sometimes dark appearance at the cloud base. Thin clouds may appear to have acquired the color of their environment or background and clouds illuminated by non-white light, such as during sunrise or sunset, may appear colored accordingly. Clouds look darker in the near-infrared because water absorbs solar radiation at those wavelengths.
The color of a cloud, as seen from the Earth, tells much about what is going on inside the cloud. Clouds form because warm air tends to absorb water vapor, which is lighter than air, thus helping the mixture to rise. As it rises the air containing it cools and the vapor tends to condense out of the air as micro-droplets. These tiny particles of water are densely packed and sunlight cannot penetrate far into the cloud before it is reflected out, giving a cloud its characteristic white color. As a cloud matures, the dense water droplets may combine to produce larger droplets, which may combine to form droplets large enough to fall as rain. By this process of accumulation, the space between droplets becomes increasingly larger, permitting light to penetrate farther into the cloud. If the cloud is sufficiently large and the droplets within are spaced far enough apart, it may be that a percentage of the light which enters the cloud is not reflected back out before it is absorbed. A simple example of this is being able to see farther in heavy rain than in heavy fog. This process of reflection/absorption is what causes the range of cloud color from white to black. For the same reason, the undersides of large clouds and heavy overcasts can appear as various degrees of grey shades, depending on how much light is being reflected or transmitted back to the observer.
Other colors occur naturally in clouds. Bluish-grey is the result of light scattering within the cloud. In the visible spectrum, blue and green are at the short end of light's visible wavelengths, while red and yellow are at the long end. The short rays are more easily scattered by water droplets, and the long rays are more likely to be absorbed. The bluish color is evidence that such scattering is being produced by rain-sized droplets in the cloud.
A greenish tinge to a cloud is produced when sunlight is scattered by ice. A cumulonimbus cloud emitting green is an imminent sign of heavy rain, hail, strong winds and possible tornadoes.
Yellowish clouds are rare but may occur in the late spring through early fall months during forest fire season. The yellow color is due to the presence of pollutants in the smoke.
Red, orange and pink clouds occur almost entirely at sunrise/sunset and are the result of the scattering of sunlight by the atmosphere. The clouds do not become that color; they are reflecting long and unscattered rays of sunlight, which are predominant at those hours. The effect is much like if one were to shine a red spotlight on a white sheet. In combination with large, mature thunderheads this can produce blood-red clouds.
Stratocumulus Clouds
A Stratocumulus cloud belongs to a class of clouds characterized by large dark, rounded masses, usually in groups, lines, or waves, the individual elements being larger than those in altocumuli, and the whole being at a lower altitude, usually below 2,400 m (8,000 ft). Weak convective currents create shallow cloud layers because of drier, stable air above preventing continued vertical development.

The first engagement of the Civil War took place at Fort Sumter on April 12 and 13, 1861. After 34 hours of fighting, the Union surrendered the fort to the Confederates. Major Robert Anderson informed Secretary of War Simon Cameron of the surrender in this telegram, dated April 18.

This is a business partnership agreement between three partners, Ali Akbar and Abdolkhalegh, originally from Yazd, Persia and Mohammad Taghi originally from Tabriz, Persia. It was inked on Sunday December 9, 1906, just four months after the victory of Iranian Constitutional Revolution and about the same time that the first parliamentary elections took place in Iran (Persia). They agreed to share their capital and do business with it for 21 years.
It turned out that this partnership got very successful later on, in such a way that they where known in Bazaar as "the Partners" ( i.e. Shoraka in Persian). More than twenty years after this agreement, when it was necessary for citizens of Persia to opt a family name, two of them, namely Ali Akbar and Abdolkhalegh, chose Shoraka (i.e. partners) and the third one, Mohammad Taghi, chose Ghafouri, as their family names. This is a picture of three of their children with three of their grandchildren.
This was not just a business partnership. Most of the children and some of the grandchildren of these three partners married each other later. These boys are grand-grandsons, and this boy is grand-grand-grandson of all three.
This document was kept by the following throughout its hundred-year long history.

سالها بعد این سه تن در بازار به نام شرکاء معروف گردیدند و حدود بیست سال بعد، که انتخاب نام خانوادگی الزامی گردید، دو تن از آنان یعنی علیاکبر و عبدالخالق نام خانوادگی شرکاء را برای خود انتخاب نمودند و نفر سوم، محمدتقی، با استفاده از قرآن، نام خانوادگی غفوری را برای خود برگزید.
یکی از مصنوعاتی که آنها در تجارت آن نقش مهمی داشتند نوعی پارچه نخی اما نسبتا ضخیم و بادوام به نام دبیت بود. بعدها نام یکی از این شرکاء، حاج علیاکبر، بر نوع مرغوب آن ماندگار گردید و همچنان در سراسر ایران دبیت اعلاء به نام دبیت حاج علیاکبری یا دبیت علیاکبری شناخته میشود.
