Using a cheap coffee filter to make a flash diffuser.
Shot with the Vivitar 550 and coffee filter - flash diffuser.
The sun was to the girl's left, behind the white sheet. The sheet also was blowing behind her head, so the background looks white.
Ed kept the diffuser high so the family could get a quick look at the back of the camera.
This is part of an outing at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City with the Utah Strobist group.

The Centennial Fireworks at the Southwest Waterfront Fireworks Festival, part of the Cherry Blossom Festival. Seen over the Washington Channel, from Hains Point. Washington, DC.
I wanted a diffuser for my flash, and I was feeling crafty. So, I built one. It's made of cardboard, nice white paper, gaffers tape, duct tape and glue, and it took me about 3 hours to design and build.
This is the test fitting after I cut out the cardboard. I taped it together with scotch tape and rubber-banded it to the flash. Everything worked okay.
