A long sleek cat with an equally long name, this is the E-Type Jaguar Roadster Series III V12. Despite looking almost black in this photo, it is actually in British Racing Green (as it should be!)
A 1/18th scale model diecast car by AUTOart.
6 image focus stack using the Canon R10 and 24-240 zoom lens. Cool white LED panel lighting and diffused natural daylight.
I really liked the light effect that this tree gave. The cooling mist was also very welcome as this was building into the hottest day we had on our trip. We eventually reached 104 degrees Fahrenheit!
Side-lit diffused sun, against a black board, lit to zone2.
Toned in LR6 to emulate chlorobromide tonality (of papers such as Agfa Record Rapid developed in Agfa WA). This is not toned; many photographers of my age and older used this workflow as standard as an alternative to the "cold" tones of bromide paper.
The Great Potoo (Nyctibius grandis) is a true master of camouflage, blending seamlessly into its surroundings with its bark-like plumage. This image was taken in Restrepo, Meta, Colombia, just a few blocks from the central park during an urban photo walk. Despite being in a bustling town, this nocturnal bird remained perfectly still, relying on its cryptic pattern to avoid detection. Capturing it in daylight was a rare opportunity to showcase its remarkable adaptations.
Photographed using a Canon R5 with an 800mm f/11 lens and a 1.4x extender, I set my exposure to 1/180 sec, f/16, and ISO 1600 to balance sharpness and depth of field while maintaining enough light for a well-exposed shot. The soft, diffused lighting filtering through the canopy helped bring out the intricate feather details without harsh shadows. This encounter was a reminder that incredible wildlife can thrive even in unexpected urban spaces, making conservation awareness even more essential.

A peek-a-boo view looking through the leaves at the lovely bloom. I'm drawn to the diffusion and out of focus effects.
The days are getting a bit longer and spring is around the corner thankfully. Many thanks for your warm and kind visits and comments my friends! 💖

Yes, in reply to so many comments below: no fences. It's a not a photo-composition, just a very quiet road ...
Standing waiting for the light, I eventually decided to take this with the diffuse light. I think the soft lighting works well with the colours, maybe needs a bit more work on it, but I am pleased with this.

Tiny scaly weevil (7mm, ID ..; Curculionidae, Coleoptera) from the dense forest reserve of Niaouli (Benin, September 2022, light attracted, collection specimen).

The last few days I've become obsessed trying to get better images of this guy. Fortunately he's (They) are fairly cooperative. Focus stacked using OM-1 Mark ii and Olympus 60mm macro, Godox 350 flash and an AK Diffuser hand-held..
A diffuse Northern Lights display in interior Alaska. Unusually for this latitude, they behaved almost like fog, rather than pulling together into more definite patterns. It was interesting to try to photograph this well.
It's night. Only a light wind rustles in the leaves. The cones of light cast their diffuse light on the lonely road. Steps echo somewhere ....
Long shadows in the early evening at the old correctional facility. This was a weird combination of hazy sunlight blocked by dense foliage filtering through dirty windows.

Messier 63 or the Sunflower Galaxy is a 29.3 million light-year distant galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. In visible light it has a lack of a large-scale continuous spiral structure. Because of this, it is classified as a flocculent (fuzzy) galaxy. This image is the result of about 8 hours of image integration over 3 nights from Grand Mesa Observatory captured and processed by Terry Hancock and Tom Masterson.
In this image, and in some others, you can clearly see a very diffuse outer structure to this galaxy that probably spans thousands of light-years. I find it very fuzzy indeed :-)
