The sun was to the girl's left, behind the white sheet. The sheet also was blowing behind her head, so the background looks white.
These are found in some wave machines, particularly at Letchworth and Great Yarmouth. These Steel chimneys serve from the compressor to the diffuser at the top.
truly enjoying my class...especially when the instructor tells me that this was a textbook example of diffused light.
