A much gentler flash (diffused flash) was achieved for this photo by placing a few pieces of tissue right in front of the flash and it created a gentle fast as compared to the other photo that used a hard flash. Can be seen that the there is little to no shadow that is caused by the subject here in this photo.

The lighting in this image is very soft, or diffuse.
