[ÈNG] Doñana's National park (Spain), beach ecosystem, Doñana's National Park includes five different ecosystems: Beaches, Dunes, Border, Marsh and Forest. The beach is one of the wider virgin coasts of Europe, with about 35km between the town of Matalascañas (Huelva) and the mouth of the Guadalquivir river. The beaches of Doñana represent an intense dynamism and change their profile constantly due to the sea regressions through the centuries. Southwestern winds cause the continuous transport of sands over the beaches of the National Park, moved afterwards to the inside forming the trains of mobile dunes. On the beach, shelter of thousands of coastal birds, the remains of marine species such as crustaceans and fish accumulate, and often it is possible to find cetaceans and marine turtles. Bombus sylvestris - Forest Cuckoo Bee

Two very different looking bees here but actually two different colour forms of the same species.
The Forest Cuckoo bee has more variants even than this, but I found the the standard form with the yellow and white and the melanistic all black versions of the Male on the same Forest ride in Harwood.
The very tip of the tale only is red, on both forms which helps identify it from the ‘classic‘ bumblebee.
Cuckoo bumblebees do not collect pollen and are actually parasitic on several bumblebee species, laying their eggs in their nests instead.

The rose was hand forged by my old boyfriend, Mike Mize. We argued and he could not sleep with the full moon blazing in the great picture window. He said he went down to his forge and worked on this piece for me. A love letter was with it, like a mad woman I threw it away. Blah blah blah. It started with “My love for you will last as long as this rose.” He was killed in a car accident April 9, 2000. Drunk Driving landed him in a creek at about 3-4 AM. So tragic, he left a son in high school and a wife!! A Wife!!! He told me he was divorced but I found out that the papers were not filed. I was so angry over that I kept it to myself, she had breast cancer and passed away unnecessarily. She waited too long to get it checked and it was just awful. She started out with an alternative medicine quack and not a doctor. It still bothers me that people don’t understand that they have a responsibility to be here for their children at whatever cost. Her cancer was the kind that is genetic and she could have lived a full life with surgery and reconstruction. He didn’t have to go to a bar across a mountain and get stinking drunk. He was five miles from his family farm. The tow truck driver said that the cab of his truck smelled of whiskey so strong that if you lit a match it would catch fire. So unnecessary and irresponsible. I’m by no means a saint, I know that life happens and it’s hard, full of unpleasantries, and you can’t always get want you want. To quote Mick Jagger. This years jumping spider season has officially started! I found a couple of different jumper species already. This was one of the best shots that I got so far. It's a female Asianellus festivus. This specimen was extremely calm and didn't move at all even though I was very close with my lens and took many shots for a stack! At the same time I also saw a male of this species which showed quite the opposite behaviour. The male was constantly running and jumping around like a mad man. I didn't get the chance to get a proper image of it. However, I already got decent images of the male of this species from the previous year.
They're loveley spiders.
Can't wait to see which jumpers I'll find this year!

This morning I checked out the Osprey nest at the Page Road entrance to Matsqui Trail Park. From the ground nothing to report, one Osprey in and another bringing breakfast. A little later I decided to go over to Sumas Mountain and see if I could look down into the nest.
Its disgusting what a mess the idiots that have bush parties make.
As close as I could get I saw one of the Osprey arrive for nest duty and the other leave. It was just too far away for me to see if there was eggs or little ospreys in the nest before Mom lay down.
The farm shows a different aspect of the Bronze Age from the rock carvings. The images on the rock carvings do not seem to have much to do with everyday life; there are no depictions of the artists’ homes, their fields or their animals.

A Different View of the Beautiful Cymbidium Orchid Flower.
Cymbidium plants are sympodial and grow to a height of 60 cm and the racemes as high as 90 cm. The raceme grows from the base of the most recent pseudobulb. Each flower can have a diameter of 5 to 10 cm, according to the species. They bloom during the winter, and each plant can have up to fifteen or more flowers. The fantastic range of colors for this genus include white, green, yellowish-green, cream, yellow, brown, pink, and red [and orange] and black (and there may be markings of other color shades at the same time), but not blue. The flowers last about ten weeks. They have a waxy texture. The rounded sepals and petals have about the same dimensions. They show very diverse color patterns, different for every species.
It is one of the most popular and desirable orchids in the world because of the beautiful flowers. These plants make great houseplants, and are also popular in floral arrangements and corsages. They have been cultivated for thousands of years, especially in China. Cymbidiums became popular in Europe during the Victorian era. One feature that makes the plant so popular is the fact that it can survive during cold temperatures (as low as 7˚ C or 45˚ F) [Actually they will survive at temperatures below 32˚F for short periods and even as low as 28˚F].

these are a bit different from what I usually do, but I thought I'd try something different
I had fun doing this, though they didn't turn out quite how I wanted, and I'm a bit disappointed. They're not my best work, and I'm hoping that next time I do some sort of shoot that I'll be happier with the results
on a better note, I just wanted to thank everyone for being so wonderfully supportive. I've reached over 10,000 stream views and have over 250 people calling me a contact, I'm still surprised that that many people like my work. So thanks again everyone!!

It was actually quite fun to make all this furniture.
My stock of Reddish Brown Parts is quite large but I had to order some of the detail parts such as the globe or the glasses.

Going around town with the camera in the morning with the sun shining from the East can be so different from the afternoon. I have always loved the Caledonian Hotel but a shot of it in bright sunlight is only available until 11ish in summer months.
Here comes Volvo B8L / Enviro 400XLB number 1092 (SJ19 OXH) on a Service 22 with Volvo B5TL / Wright Gemini 3 number 443 (SJ66 LDF) bringing up the rear, one the new batch from 2016.
Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian is a five-star hotel which opened in 1903. It is an example of a British grand railway hotel, formerly called The Caledonian Hotel, and nicknamed 'The Caley'.
It was constructed from 1899 to 1903 and was part of the Caledonian Railway's Edinburgh Princes Street station. It was a rival to the North British Railway's North British Hotel which opened at the other end of Princes Street in 1902. The hotel was built on top of the stone built, V-shaped station building which had been built as a replacement for the previous wood-built station which was damaged in a fire in 1890. The architects of the hotel were John Peddie and George Washington Browne (Washington Browne also designed Edinburgh's Central Library in George IV Bridge).
In 1965, Princes Street Station was closed and it was demolished by 1970. This provided room for expansion for the hotel and the cast iron gates at the entrance to a car park in Rutland Street are the only remainder of the station outwith the hotel. The original station clock, pre-dating the fire of 1890, has been preserved inside the hotel.
