This 3D montage was put together by one of my best Flickr Friends, Doc Whats, and I was most impressed by it. In fact, I asked Doc if he could do some more! Some of Doc's 3D images will be appearing in my end-of-year fashion review in December. Thanks again, Doc!
In a couple of days I am off to a secret location in Central Europe, to participate in what the organizers (Prinzess Hildegarde von Trapp is amongst them!) describe as "the most extravagant and depraved orgy yet in the history of European Decadence". Around a dozen members of The Sodality are travelling out with me, for three days of unrelenting lewdness and outrageous promiscuity. I promise to tell you all about my adventures on my return - which will be at the beginning of next week!

Looking for something different at Upper Crystal Creek Falls...so I waded up close until the water was too deep and got some intimate shots of this gem. This waterfall rages earlier in the year, so the conditions were ideal for shooting from the pool. Not sure how I feel about the yellow moss on the right (almost cropped it), but i felt it added some interest as it transitions to green in the water. It was a cool experience to have this all to myself for the evening;-) Hope you enjoy, let me know what you think!

A different world
This photo was taken inside The Map House – an amazing place. I liked the contrast here between the old, antique objects and the laptop and mouse.
We visited on a mission – to see the exhibition of maps of the London Underground. The displays were fascinating – from the earliest, realistic maps to the iconic examples designed by Frank Beck (and others) and including one new approach based on lines radiating out from a central hub. It’s we’ll worth a visit – although you’ll have to be quick as the exhibition closes on 30 November 2024.

On days were i am quite busy i usually resort to taking my photo in my room which is really lame sometimes because i like going out and finding interesting locations and exploring.
I wasn't too excited about any of my shots today so i tried to be a little creative and added a few different elements to the photo.
Oops..... I had to take the one I just posted down..... :( I noticed I had posted it before....lol
I really like the dark face with the shadow on her back. Has the typical green body but a black face.... haven't seen one like this before....... cool stuff.
A Superior yard job uses a pair of geeps to spot loaded coal cars at MERC as the John G. Munson heads toward C. Reiss with limestone. The coal cars are ones that were the wrong direction for the dumper and/or bad order cars repaired and needing to be dumped.
Thought this photo of the Bruderheim Windmill would make a change from owls and snow scenes : ) Taken on 14 September 2013, when I spent the day at Heritage Park with my youngest daughter and the photography group that she ran for a few months, including lunch at the old Wainwright Hotel. Great company, most enjoyable.
"Wilhelm Mallon, a carpenter and blacksmith of German descent, arrived in Canada in 1910. He happily discovered that the sandy soil of his farm near Bruderheim, Alberta, about 50 kilometres north of Edmonton, grew a good crop of spring rye. The next step was building a mill to make the sort of rye bread that had been a staple back home in Belarus.
From 1920 to 1924, Mallon completed this mill, which was the second he'd built on the farm. Mallon used hand tools to shape the gears, wheels and shafts from scrub birch, and shaped his millstones from granite found in the North Saskatchewan River. Despite being constantly hampered by a lack of wind, Mallon's mill did a good business in the area. In 1964, the Devonian Group of Charitable Foundations donated the structure to Heritage Park, along with $35,000 for its restoration."

"Newcomers to Western Canada were dismayed by the scarcity and cost of flour. Those with a millwright’s skills often ground wheat or rye for the community. This was the case for Wilhelm Mallon, who built this windmill in the Bruderheim district near Edmonton.
Mallon used only materials at hand. Local timber provided the framework. The gears, wheels and shafts were made from scrub birch. Paraffin wax was used to lubricate all moving parts. There was not a single piece of metal in the original millworks.
Mallon’s mill turned out 150 pounds of flour each day if the winds were right. As was the custom, the miller kept a portion of each run as a payment for his services."

In Venice it's possible to get away from the crowds almost instantly simply by nipping down one of the many narrow side alleys. Within a very few minutes you're in a completely different world.

I returned to Horsetail Falls looking for something different. As far as I know no one has ever photographed the waterfall from the other side of the creek before, indeed for most of the year it is impossible to cross the creek but with the low flow it is easy to rock hop across at this point. However the creek was much lower than I anticipated. When I was here 3 weeks earlier there was more than twice the flow it has now. How could it lose so much in only 3 weeks? Ah well, I guess I will have to try this again next year with a bit more water. This is a 120 second exposure.

Different day, different pole :)
The lean is partly lens distortion but mostly because it is actually leaning.
Trying out different furniture in the new IKEA dollhouse. Re-ment, Madeline and the new and old IKEA furniture do fit.
I have the colorful circles spilling out of the center.. the other layout they are all inside .. I'm leaning tword this one.. anyone have feedback?

- Another misty view of the Milky Way from the mountains, not as foggy though you can even see the clouds close to the ground. The lights from the towns and houses seems to have lots of different colours, not just the normal harsh sodium orange.
