For the 5th anniversary of Compositionally Challenged there was a bonus challenge for the month of June. The challenge is to post up to three images that you'd like help or suggestions on. Thanks to the good folks in that group, I now love this image. Took everyone's comments and then took the time and revisited the shot and made a few tweaks in LR & PS. Come check out this great group - link in the first comment below.
The variety of terrain on The Big Island of Hawaii is crazy -- we drove from Hilo all the way around the east side of the island to our hotel just outside of Kona. The drive was definitely worth the time -- just to appreciate the vast differences between each area of the island.

The view from my window doesn't change much and usually includes a neighbour's car. So when I looked out the other day I thought I was seeing double! Obviously they had a visitor with the same taste in cars. However if you look closely there are three differences. You will get a brownie point if you can spot them and another if you can name the model.

The Make a Difference Area at Summer Camp is located just outside the main walkway to the Moonshine Stage and hosts a wide variety of nonprofit organizations. We hope that the education these groups provide at their booths and during panel discussions in the Soulshine Tent will increase your awareness of important environmental and human rights issues, and inspire you to get involved and take action in a positive way…both locally and around the world!

Alex Bolden ’15 of Cleveland, Ohio, has prepared Bates artists for the Sankofa performance on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. See a Bates Communications Office video by Phyllis Graber Jensen.
Founded in 2010, Sankofa explores African diasporic experiences through performing arts of dance, music, theater and spoken word. The group has become a symbol of African American pride and accomplishment at Bates.
“What the great civil rights organizer Ella Baker said about young people is especially applicable to Sankofa,” says Charles Nero, chair of the college’s King Day committee and a professor of rhetoric and American cultural studies. “They have the courage where we fail.”
“Sankofa’s founding principle is the exploration and validation of the differences among peoples of African descent. And if you think about that, this is everyone, since Africa is the birthplace of humankind.”

As noted above; What a difference a day makes! The first photo was taken yesterday and the trees were still almost winter bare. Some green buds were visible but not leaves were out.
I took the two other pictures today, a few minutes ago.
Now, a, sunny and 72° F (22° C.) day, the leaf buds all bust open and it's green everywhere!
