There 's nothing like cool temperatures and fresh air to raise the spirits. during my forays to the Alabama Hills the temperature can get up into the 100's and when they do, this is where I seek refuge. At around 9000 ft in elevation the difference in temperature is about 15 degrees and there nothing better the a fine mist that floats away from the falls right onto your weary soul.

As you may have guessed, I stayed on the Salar to enjoy the sunset too. The difference with sunrise is that more tourists watch the sunset than the sunrise; not everyone is an early riser. But it was worth it I think.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

The difference between a "Burg" and a "Schloss" (castle) is that a Burg is more like a fortress, built for protection from the enemies, and a Schloss was for the nobility to reside in, and very lavishly decorated.
Over time, some of the Burgs were also turned into castles.
Burg Eltz is somewhat unusual, in that it's been in the same family that had it built over 850 years ago, and Count and Countess Eltz still live there today.

One of the most powerful weapons of mass liberty, that the human species in our present form possesses is the power of thought, the power of the mind, once led by the heart. It's a weapon even the CIA use (if you ever do your research), it's called Manifesting.
Right now we are facing the greatest threat our time, the overtaking of all our freedoms in the disguise of protection, haven't we heard this too many times before? Yea! That's because the human race needs constant reminders!
The only way to overthrow the continued erosion of our freedoms is for us as a unified spiritual force, to drop our pathetic differences and march together, throwing down the shackles, getting up off our knees! But the silence is deafening, so as awakened members of the future, I as we and we as ourselves as one can manifest the uprising and join the many more who exist in the mass awakening of the world, it is unavoidable and evil cannot and shall not prosper.
I'll leave that with you, I hope everyone is loved this weekend and so as always, thank you! :)

Thousand thanks you dear friends, for your great support and kindness for a long time, it is a pleasure and an honor for me,
Beyond our differences we are all inhabitants of the Earth this weekend is Christmas time, the time of Peace.
Let's not forget, however, those who have nothing, are alone or oppressed, so if everything isn't perfect for Christmas Eve or the gifts, let's all have a thought for these people who are victims of wars or destitute. Peace on the World !

The Lauterbrunnen valley is one of the deepest in the Alps, comparing the height difference of the adjacent mountains and the valley floor. In some places the cliff walls are 1000 m high. Streams flowing down the mountains, at the edge of the rocky valley walls, form high waterfalls. The most famous of these are the Staubbach Falls (visible on the right) and the Trummelbach Falls. The 297 m high Staubbach Falls is the tallest free-fall waterfall in Switzerland.

What a difference a year can make.
This morning Facebook asked if I wanted to share a memory from one year ago. The photo was of a Reddish egret taken in January of 2022 at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida.
A year ago, at this time Sanibel was swamped with both tourists and resident and seasonal birds, an estimated 247 different species. If you looked for it, you could find evidence of past hurricanes and tropical storms that had visited, mainly in the live oaks, but you had to look closely. Then 28 September of 2022 arrived with Hurricane Ian, a direct hit by a category four hurricane.
I sat and staired at the photo for quite some time, wondering if this beautiful creature survived. Wildlife doesn’t have many options when nature is at its worst. In the case of birds, they have two basic options. Some use the winds of the initial bands to propel them out of harms way. Others ride it out, taking shelter where they can.
While researching what wildlife does in hurricanes, a sad scenario was presented. It is well documented that birds often become trapped in the eye of hurricanes, taking flight possibly thinking it is over, then flying in a panic unable to escape the storms walls.
Here is an unreleased archive shot of the beautiful creature I was blessed to photograph, as I hope and pray it is well.

I just got a wide gamut monitor to get accurate colors plus the larger monitor would help me see greater detail. I am not sure if it was worth it. I don't see a big color difference compared to my laptop monitor. I am so tired of the computer work and I would much rather be outside than figuring all of this out! I have 30 days to return it! UPDATE: it is all packed up and I am returning it!!

Aeshna isoceles is a small hawker dragonfly that is found in Europe, mostly around the Mediterranean, and the lowlands of North Africa. Its common name in English is green-eyed hawker. In Britain it is a rare and local species and is known as the Norfolk hawker. It has a brown colour with green eyes and clear wings and also a yellow triangular mark on the second abdominal segment which gave rise to its scientific name. It used to be in the genus Anaciaeschna as it has several differences from the other members of the genus Aeshna. Its specific name is often spelt isosceles.
A. isoceles is one of only two brown hawkers found in Europe, the other is A. grandis. Both have a brown thorax and abdomen but A. isoceles has green eyes and clear wings and a diagnostic yellow triangular mark on the second abdominal segment. The hindwings have an amber patch at their base. In contrast A. grandis has yellowish wings and blueish eyes. The green eye of A. isoceles stands out even in flight and in practice it is not difficult to tell these two dragonflies apart. In addition to the morphological differences A. isoceles is on the wing much earlier in the year than A. grandis.
This isn't fifteen feet different and might even be shot in the same tripod footprint as 'the pointing tree', but what a difference between the shots. A really nice bit of schooling/learning on composition between these two photo's so I'll include the almost exact but completely different shot in comments. What do you think?
I dont usually do birds in flight, but as ive been not able to spend much money during lockdown.. Ive upgraded my Canon 7Dmk1 to a 7Dmk2 and the difference is huge! Im over the moon! Tracking birds in flight justs feels effortless compared to the mk1. So thought id share this photo taken with me new 7Dmk2 :)

This year I think about
How I'm so lucky to have a place
That I can come home to
Yes, I am on my way
We'll put our differences aside
And just enjoy this moment
Of peace, and love, and happiness
We come together to celebrate
Yes, every time the snow is falling down
And it is cold outside
We gather round the fireplace
And no one cares about yesterday
Europe, The Netherlands, Zuid Holland, Rotterdam Zuid, Rijnhaven, Terraforming, Sand dispenser (slightly cut from all sides)
During high tide, the results of the filling of the Rijnhaven get somewhat camouflaged. In this part of Rotterdam, the difference between high and low tide is some 1,5 m. On the left (bottom) are the New Luxor theatre's characteristic protruding parking deck and InHolland (top). On the right is Bayhouse.
Shot from the 20th floor of 'De Rotterdam'.
As I wrote earlier, Rijnhaven is being redeveloped. This harbour was created in 1895 to offer shelter for Rhine vessels ('rijnaken'), which could not operate during the winter due to the freezing of the rivers.
After the creation of the harbour, the transit freight traffic to Rotterdam continued to increase, and the new Rijnhaven was made suitable for large sea-going vessels by deepening it. As planned, the Rijnhaven became an essential port for the transhipment of bulk goods 'on stream' - the sea-going vessels were moored on buoys, separate from the quay, and their cargo was directly moved to rhine ships. In de 70/80s of the last century, the Rijnhaven lost its transhipment function and was brought back to its old function. In 2015, the rhine ship berths were moved to, among others, the Maashaven. Enabling the redevelopment of the old harbour.
It will be partly (30%) filled up (pure terraforming) to enable the realization of, amongst others, an office/apartment building strip with up to 200m high edifices, called the 'Skyline Posthumalaan' with an adjacent park and city beach. And there will be the floating Rijnhavenpark, too.
This is number 10 of Rijnhaven - the redevelopment, 348 of Rotterdam harbour and industry and 43 of De Rotterdam.
Wishing all my WTBW friends Congratulations for our Third Anniversary! Thanks to you all for your wonderful artistic contributions for a better world over the past 3 years. Hopefully, in a small way we make a difference.
Let's all reach out beyond the divide and come together in kindness, tolerance, understanding, love, help, respect, positive thinking and actions, compassion and embrace our differences, my friends!
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
