Und hier ist schon wieder ein Auto, das Ihr wahrscheinlich noch nie gesehen habt. Dieses Model ist ein Nissan Cherry X-1 Coupé. Während die Limousine dieser Baureihe schon seit 1970 verkauft wurde, debütierte die Coupé-Version erst drei Jahre später. Nur in dieser Karosserieform war auch der größere 1,2-Liter-Vierzylinder mit strammen 70 PS erhältlich. Bei einen Leergewicht von nur 670 Kilogramm dürften die Fahrleistungen ziemlich sportlich gewesen sein. Noch verschärfter ging es allerdings in der Rennversion zu, die Nissan noch vor der Markteinführung des Serien-Coupés vorstellte. Hier stehen den 150 PS des 1,3-Liter-Motors nur 645 Kilogramm gegenüber.

The occasion was the January 20, 2005 counter-inaugural protest demonstration held in Washington, DC, USA. Approximately 10,000 people marched to protest the second inauguration of George W. Bush (Dubya). Freezing cold temperatures and high winds made it very uncomfortable. The die-in protested Bush's Iraq War.
Factoid:
The Iraq War finally ended in December 2011 when the last US troops exited Iraq. For Coalition combat forces, security forces & others, 24,219 persons died and 117,961 persons were wounded. For Iraqi combat forces, 28,736 persons died and 37,120 persons were wounded. Documented Iraqi civilian deaths totaled 29,000 persons. Lancet estimated excess civilian deaths at 655,000 persons.

One of my suit mates, Brandon, is a numismatist, which apparently means that he collects coins. He has hundred of coins in his collection and always carries around a special half dollar his grandfather left him before he passed on. Today he asked me if I could get a closeup of this penny he suspected to be a double die. This means that it was struck twice and will have a 'stereo punched' effect. Since I don't have a macro lens I went to my backup solution. I put my 75-300 on and focused it to ~105mm, then I put my 50mmƒ1.4 and focused it to infinity. Once that was lined up I put the penny in the front and moved it back and forth to find a good focus on the subject. The depth of field was something like 1-2mm with this setup. I used live view-remote shooting to get a razor sharp image. here are some links that are related that you may find interesting.
