1904 - 1974. Horse trainer mainly although his death certificate lists him as a poultry farmer of West Melton. (Canterbury, NZ).
My great uncle - brother to my paternal grandmother.
Indirectly I was named for him.

"Prominent Trainer Dies at 69.

Vic Clutterbuck, who was training trotting winners in the 1920s in the Wairarapa and later switched to gallopers at Riccarton where he won the 1966 New Zealand Cup died in Christchurch today. He was 69.
He had a grounding in trotting around Addington as a boy and moved north in the 1920s to become associated with Mrs L.K. Page, a wealthy Canadian who had settled in New Zealand.
Mr Clutterbuck who relinquished his training licence two years ago, had a long and colourful career in trotting and galloping."

War sehr lustig zum beobachten wie hier immer wieder Leute eingebrochen sind. Teils mussten die von 4 Leuten aus dem Sumpf gezogen werden.
Die Loretto-Kapellen sind ein Gebäudeensemble am südlichen Ortsrand von Oberstdorf im Allgäu. Es besteht aus drei einzelnen römisch-katholischen Kapellen. Die Lorettokapellen nehmen Bezug auf den italienischen Wallfahrtsort Loreto bei Ancona und sind Endpunkt der Kreuzwegstationen des Dorfes

Während die Gegend rund um die Haltestelle Viermorgen noch mit Einfamilien-Reihenhäusern noch wie das perfekte deutsche Suburbia aussieht, ist zwei Haltestellen später an der Frankfurter Straße bereits Plattenbau angesagt.
Ja leider-Kann mich nur an einen Tagespost-Artikel von damals erinnern (Jahr unbekannt,Künstler unbekannt),in dem die Kosten als zuviel angegeben wurden,ca.500.000.- Schilling Steuergeld !
Es war das Jahr,als die Umfahrungsstrasse(Neue Klachaustrasse) eröffnet wurde-Damals bestand ja nur die alte Klachaustrasse durch Untergrimming u.Girtstatt...direkt zum Bahnhof Klachau / Tauplitz...Beim Thomahof vorbei...Vielleicht weiß Grimming Franz mehr darüber...Zeiringer Franz-Die Allumfassende(analog Schutzmantelmadonna) ist ja auch eine Frauengestalt...Jedenfalls: Die Statue steht jetzt noch am Parkplatz...mit dem Multereck/Grimming im Hintergrund...Lg.

Here's a photo of Uncle Harley from The Ohio State University 1942-1943. He passed away about a year ago. He was my mother's older brother who loved her so much. Of course, all the "Smith Kids" were a loving and close family. Uncle Harley's presence filled the room. He had personality PLUS. He was funny, active, opinionated, smart, involved, a leader, a teacher, stubborn, and altogether lovable. He was married to Aunt Irma who left us too soon. Oh, how I loved those two.

Harley W. Smith, Jr., 82, of Akron, died March 4, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma; daughter, Phoebe Hoover; sister, Patricia Henson; and brother, Julian Smith.
Harley was a Navy veteran of World War II, a graduate of East High School, The University of Akron and attended The Ohio State University. He was retired from the Post Office and active throughout his life with the Boy Scouts and the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his sons, Scott Smith, Harley Smith III, and Kim Smith; daughter, Robin Pelton; brothers, Robert Smith and Von Smith; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
