Here's a nice example of a travelling egg that made it's way to me from my student Geoffrey Ross.
From Geoffrey's notes; "NAT is ready to go but the cabin isn't ready yet and he has no passport or visa for the North Island. The confines of the cradle gave him legs. The confines of the package will give him wings. Please let NAT out to stretch his legs"
Unfortunately it didn't arrive unbroken but the concept and idea behind this one were well thought out .

Typography design based on the architecture of Tadao Ando. I picked out my favourite buildings as a basis for developing some expressive letter forms. Included are : Chikatsu Asuka historical museum / Water temple / Naoshima contemporary art museum annexe.
Fan design (completely non-commercial and for fun) of the front cover for Jeffrey Thomas's Punktown. All layout was done in Microsoft Word, as part of a competition between myself and another designer to prove that it is the idea and not the tools that make a great cover.

I opted to use F. Paul Wilson’s quote about Letters From Hades at the top instead of the standard China Miéville tagline for Punktown.
Jeffrey Thomas, the author, replied to a post of mine including this image over at the Shocklines Message Forum. He stated: “Nick’s cover is fabulous! I love his design skills, and it’s especially impressive that this was done with limited tools in a brief time period. Wow! Were PUNKTOWN to be rereleased (again!) or released in a translated edition with this cover, I’d be more than pleased. It gets across the collection’s blend of SF, horror, surrealism, erotica, etc.” (on 5/9/06 @ 4:22 pm).

I enjoy the fluid forms found in nature and I value the economy they represent. I think this is one of my favorite pieces because it piece reflects those concerns. At the time, I could produce one of these tables in as little as two hours with only a table saw and a router.
The materials were limited to less than 1 1/3 sheets of 4' x 8' material, wood glue, sandpaper, masking tape, a rag, and some finish. The masking tape was used to clamp mitre joints along the leg so I guess it kinda counts as a tool.
