This is from Dazzling Knits by Patricia Werner. The color is off a bit in this photo but I still like it.
These are for a project-in-progress, but I like the way they were subconsciously assembled when I moved them.
É com prazer que lanço hoje, como parte das atividades do Dia Nacional do Design, o projeto design_ref, que em sua vertente principal visa apresentar exemplares pouco conhecidos da produção gráfica brasileira a partir dos anos 1950.
... special feature on the Tricorn Shopcentre Portsmouth ... by architects Owen Luder and Rodney Gordon ... originally designed to expand upon and reflect the vibrancy of the existing Charlotte Street market ... the scheme included some residential space and a dark undercroft containing a variety of retail units ... the upper deck was reserved for a wholesale market. Circular ramps were used to move cars and pedestrians between floors ... I recall it in the 1970s and 80s when it had become fully brutal - an eerie intimidating dark grey volume of total misery only relieved for me by the purchase of the X-Ray Spex album 'Germ Free Adolescents' in the Virgin Megastore ... I moved on and it did eventually ...
Jonathan Meades : "One can have nothing but contempt for the scum-of-the-earth councillors, blind planners and toady local journalists who conspired to effect the demolition of such masterpieces."

Cognitive dissidence The sideyard house is elegantly designed for a narrow lot that has a large attached garage that ruins the whole effect. Note the "porch" on the garage. How do you get up there? I see no doorway.

The scene as designed and made by StudioM at our studio in 2004 - copyright held. If it is properly set up and lit to enhance the moonlight effect, it is a very effective scene. His legs are designed to kick freely and easily when pulled by a string connected to a rotating shaft and cam system overhead. The mouse on the right is reading a newspaper which tells the story and acknowledges the true creators - StudioM - a closeup of him in the sets on right of page. The scene has been advertised and exhibited many times by a promotions company that bought the scene.
This is an original design and creation by StudioM, created at our Noosa hinterland workshop in 2004. The newspaper front page that the mouse is reading gives the true credits to the correct people and can be viewed in a close up photo on this site or view this one in its largest size so as to read the credits. By copyright law this attribution should not have been altered or removed.
Juanita made mice to my design and instructions and the elves to my specifications. All original drawings, sketches and instructions to doll maker are held by StudioM as the true copyright owners.

The plain and simple outline of the class 306 emu contrasts with the dreadful 'Gobstopper' class 68.
Another month, another design. I'm calling this one Techno Tuesday.
This design was inspired by "A Sea of Red", a photo taken by the extremely talented Cindy and posted to Flickr. When I saw the photo last week I immediately wanted to use it as the basis of a design and went to work. Thankfully, Cindy gave me permission to use it and it has been abstracted into the background of this new design.

This photo was taken at the Art Museum. This layout could be Proportion. It was taken several years ago by me and was called Angles.
Poster designed by Elmer Razos 1990, a computer generated graphic.
This poster is interesting in its contemporary use of art deco style but I believe there is a loss of typographic sensitivity due to the reliance and use of computer software for the typography. But it's not a computer software problem, it's not understanding the letterforms themselves that causes the problem.
I may be wrong but it looks like Futura.
While I'm not a fan of Star Wars, I have a lot of time for people like John Mollo, and the craftsmanship and imagination of the hard working artists and designers who served the west London studios. Andrew Ainsworth was part of that scene, an industrial designer who'd got into vacuum-formed plastics in the early days, producing custom car bodies using the process.
George Lucas, shooting Star Wars at Elstree studios, was looking for a way of making the armour in his new film look suitably futuristic. Ainsworth used vac-formed ABS to produce a prototype, and got the gig.
I walk past his shop most days when I'm at home.
