The sun was setting, and it made these great lines. I like the interplay with the decking.

We cut out and installed the deck today. Not that bad of a job. We should be able to trim the excess tomorrow.

Our Trex deck needs to be cleaned every year. When wet, the green scum that forms thereon is as slippery as ice. I clean it with a pressure washer. It's tedious work, taking several hours. Pictured is the start of the washing effort in 2022. The previous washing took place in 2019 (see below).
I disavow any knowledge of being too lazy in 2020 and 2021 to clean the deck.

I saw a photo of this bridge posted on John4KC's Flickr stream and thought it might be a good time to post these.
This is a two-span through truss bridge that crosses the Big Piney River at Devil's Elbow on U.S. Route 66 (currently Teardrop Road) in Pulaski County, Missouri. The bridge is still open to traffic, but a little TLC wouldn't hurt. It was built in 1923 by Riley & Bailey, Contractors, however, it was made obsolete by a new U.S. Route 66 bridge in 1942.
Traveling east to west, the direction we were headed, the traveler crosses four concrete deck girder spans with a curved alignment, then two riveted 8-panel Parker through trusses, and finally one riveted Warren pony truss.
The total length of the bridge is 588.8 feet, with the largest span being 161.0 feet. The deck is 19.4 feet wide and the vertical clearance is 14.0 feet (although it's marked 13 feet 8 inches).
The bridge appears on the Devil's Elbow USGS topographic map. The bridge's approximate location is 37°50'51"N, 92°3'44"W (37.8475, -92.0621)—that's actually where I was standing when I took this photo.
The bridge's inventory number is MONBI 18976 (Missouri bridge number on the National Bridge Inventory).
During the inspection of September 2007, the deck condition rating was Poor (4 out of 9). The superstructure condition rating was Poor (4 out of 9). The substructure condition rating was Fair (5 out of 9). It's Sufficiency Rating was 30.9 out of 100. The overall condition of the bridge was appraised as Structurally Deficient.
In 2007, an average of 100 vehicles crossed daily.

The latest project on the home front. Joists have the cross pieces pocketed in as the decking will run in the same direction as joists. While end in joists run "wild" since it will be trimmed to a curve front.

A second story walkout deck. This deck was built using Kayu Hardwood for the decking, railing, trim, stairs and privacy screen. We also used aluminum pickets and glass inserts for the railing. This deck was constructed just outside of Toronto in Richmond Hill.

This is an amazingly restored McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II fighter bomber on the flight deck of the USS Midway aircraft carrier museum which is located in San Diego bay. No longer in active service with the U.S. military, the Phantom was an all weather, two seat, twin engined aircraft used extensively during the Vietnam war. This aircraft is located in the landing area of the flight deck. A volunteer docent who was a former F-4 pilot with over 600 carrier landings was available to explain how Navy aircraft are recovered aboard.

Single deck created for a friends boyfriends 40th camping trip. This was way more challenging than I expected it to be, getting the circles right and getting the stylus and headphone band to dry, running out of silver paint, running low on black paste aaaaggghhhhh!!! One of those cakes where you feel like crying through the process because it's not coming together as you'd envisioned it in your head!!!!
Thankfully it turned out ok in the hand and I was fairly happy with the results.
Deck U houses the Warp Core. Next are two massive storage/conversion units for hydrogen, to convert it into usable deuterium. Next is an air recycling room, with a hatch to the sub-deck below. This is followed by two communications arrays, and finally the single turbolift station.
