New deck at one year after construction
What I wanted downstairs was the feel of an old fashioned porch with swing.
This multilevel deck started quite high. We created some storage under the top deck and a private dining area on the lower deck area. The location of this deck build was in Brooklin.

We came across these Deck Chairs on the beach. I thought it would have been nice for someone to have been sitting in one. Now I think it is better they are empty, as you are now guessing, where they have gone. Maybe to buy their own boat?

490 sq. ft. Ipe deck with a roof structure supported by fiberglass columns. The roof allows them to enjoy their deck in their hot backyard while keeping the sides of the deck unprotected for grilling and sun bathing. The railings are Ipe with black aluminum balusters. The skirt is handmade Ipe lattice with custom designed Ipe corner pieces to add a little something extra.
In the early 1970’s and 1980’s, a majority of decks were mainly rectangular shaped and made from either cedar, redwood or pressure treated pinewood. This is not the case anymore and deck design has evolved and developed to be more sophisticated. Nowadays, it is common to find decks with multiple levels and a variety of features such as in-built kitchens, hot tubs, mood lights, railings and beautiful floor patterns. Skilful designers can now make the most of the various high quality materials that are available. Everything from exotic decking material to low maintenance wood can be utilized to create and design a beautiful custom made outdoor deck.

Day two hundred eighty-three/365. In case you haven't seen him before in my photostream, this is Wolfgang. He's a long-haired miniature dachshund, soon to turn two years old.
Wolfgang helped us to celebrate Memorial Day. Visiting my wife's parents, and with all three of our own kids present (a rare occurrence!), we sat in a circle on the back deck and played balloon with Wolfgang.
Boy, does he love balloons! He's learned to handle them carefully, and to make them last a long time before they pop. He'll carry a balloon gingerly by its stem until it's placed where he wants it. Then, he'll push it around, or keep it in the air by jumping straight up and poking it with his nose, and even pass it to his human playmates.
A pink balloon, a lively dachshund, and a back deck: what a nice alternative to fireworks and flags!
