The Westleton window is a memorial to four members of the Deck family. The left hand window is dedicated to Frederick James Deck, born at Westleton Grange, who seems to have spent much of his life farming in South America, as his name appears on several passenger lists ( always travelling first class) headed for Argentina or Uruguay. In 1914 his son, James Frederick Deck was baptised in Buenos Aires, where his father, Frederick, is described as an estanciero ( farmer of substantial property) at La Tomasa, Miramonte and the whole family is listed there in 1916. On the ship 'Andes' in 1923 his intended country of permanent residence is listed as Argentina. In 1935 , travelling with his wife and two daughters, he is described as a farmer of Halesworth and in 1938, travelling alone to Montevideo, his address is given as Upper Abbey, Leiston. He finally dies at Bichadero in February 1939.
The right hand window is dedicated to the memory of Frederick's three sons, who all, tragically, died during WWII. Each had been a member of the RAF (VR). James Frederick was a Pilot Officer serving at RAF Honington. He Died on November 1 1941 and is listed as the son of FJ and VM Deck of Buenos Aires. He is buried in the Honington churchyard ( All Saints).
Harold Frederick Deck was Pilot Officer/Observer with 226 squadron (RAFVR), died on July 26 1942 and is buried in the Sage war cemetery at Niedersachsen in Germany. He had only married Delia Battistessa in the first quarter of 1942.
Charles George Frederick Deck served as Pilot Officer with 222 squadron RAFVR and died on April 19 1945. He is remembered on the Runnymede memorial near Egham, which lists those members of the air forces who were killed in WWII but who have no known grave. He too had only married in the summer of 1944, his wife being Pauline Foggo of Shrewsbury.

Top deck frame is epoxy coated. Seat deck frame is three coats spar varnish. Epoxy needs to be tinted to withstand UV and I had 1/2 pound of green powder. Boat needs to be greener anyway,
How do you remove a concrete bridge deck? One big chunk at a time. On the southbound I-5 Stillaguamish River Bridge, a concrete saw was used to cut old 8½-inch thick deck into roughly six-foot by eight-foot pieces weighing 4½ tons each, which then were lifted out with a track hoe and removed. The new bridge deck reopened in November 2014.
