This glass Prism is from the Point Sur Light Station. It is located in the Lantern Room steel deck. The prisms are like the glass prisms used in the old sailing ships that would allow natural lighting into the cargo hold.
This prism is a replica of the originals that were installed in the decking. Over the years these had broken or had been removed by the Coast Guard personnel that manned the station. These prisms have been sold to individuals for $1,000 USD each. If you purchased a prism you got to place is during a ceremony and you received an etched/engraved prism copy for yourself.
A total of 184 prisms can be placed in the deck. The C.C.L.K. sold all the prisms and raised 184,000. It was said that Clint Eastwood has yet to come to Point Sur and place his prism in one of the few remaining holes in the deck.
With the snow and today's wind, white stuff blanketed everything on the back and side decks, including my once dry stack of firewood.
All the tracks here are from the army of birds that have been madly eating seed from my feeders. They were stomping all over my chair!
