I've no real idea what this observation deck was all about but the spiral thing on top adds something and the colour works really well with the sand. Cropping this was interesting, a 4x5 crop is probably stronger visually but doesn’t quite capture the feeling I had so much.
A water tight seal lays under the solid Vancouver Bay 24” x 24” concrete pavers covering the 600 square foot deck. Metal and Cable railings create a modern and clean appearance; allowing for an unobstructed see-thru view of beautiful Lake Washington.
I love the shots you can get on a cruise ship when you wake up early in the morning and get out there before all the people swarm the deck. ;-)

Here it is, the big daddy. Currently holding the record for the longest SHIP at 12 feet 6 inches, or 487 studs, the Tribunal was a substantial investment in time and labor for me. I decided that, for it I would upload an entire set of the beautiful pictures taken by Geoff Gray, in glorious high resolution. There are descriptions of what all the rooms and areas are on the web site, although the pictures are pretty substantial too.
This set is enormous, so enjoy the browsing!

finished painting a new deck for my longtail. The painting was done for the benefit of my three girls who are my usual cargo. The wood was originally part of a very old Javanese dowry chest that i have disassembled and repurposed in a variety of ways. lots 'o good karma there.
It's all body paint and leaves when getting ready for the Jungle Party. My costume was Lord of the Flies inspired. If only I had had an english boys school outfit to tear to pieces.

The spa under the glass canopy has a long Greek name that ends in "therapy." It features a salt water swimming pool with bubblers and spouts. The temperature is warm and the water has a very high density. Also under the canopy, they have two hot tubs, a snack bar that features healthy food, a chubby lady statue (www.flickr.com/photos/howard33/6715661305/in/photostream), lots of lounges like you see on deck, soft music, and a sign that says age 18 and up. Most of the people in there are WAY up. Windows on the side offer a clear view of the ocean, because the spa extends out underneath the deck that you see in this picture. We spent a lot of time in there.
