@ Calder Bridge Junction Wakefield.. On Dec 27th 2003 waiting to take over Pathfinder tours "Settle & Carlisle Circular" 56106 had problems near Barrow Hill whilst working 1Z73 07:20 Crewe to Carlisle and was assisted by 66560 to Wakefield where 56078 took over, working the train for the rest of the day.

`The flooding of the Winton (Mokoan) Swamp in 1971 to create Lake Mokoan was broadly welcomed for the economic and recreational values that it promised. It created a very large water storage that irrigated thousands of hectares of agriculture, adding $10-$15 million to the local economy each year. It was one of the best Murray Cod and Golden Perch fisheries in Victoria. It was also used for hunting and sailing. At the same time the new reservoir inundated around 7,000 Ha of agricultural land, ancient forests and beautiful and unique wetlands. The flooding killed around 150,000 river red gums including many Aboriginal scar trees that still stand today, having re-emerged from the lake as dead stags but still retaining their scarring and their stories..

Over a run of dry years, Lake Mokoan sometimes dried out completely and at other times was subject to blue-green algal breakouts. Water managers seeking ways to save water in the Murray-Darling system noted that the large and shallow water body was losing far more water through evaporation than it contributed to agriculture, and raised the question of its decommissioning. This met with strong local opposition from irrigators and recreational users of the Lake. After a great deal of protest and community anguish, the lake was decommissioned and drained in 2010. Water that would otherwise have been stored in Lake Mokoan was diverted to achieve ecological flows for the Snowy River and other rivers. ' web

It was so windy, was just about blown away! Golden Bay, Takaka on our trip up to the top of the South Island of New Zealand, Dec 31, 2012.
We had a interesting trip with, thunder and lighting, heavy rain, sun, gale force winds, floods, closed roads and even snow on the hills!! But no Earthquakes!!!
Takaka is a small town situated at the southeastern end of Golden Bay, at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island, located on the lower reaches of the Takaka River. It lies at the start of the winding road which follows the river valley before climbing over Takaka Hill, linking Golden Bay with the more populated coast of Tasman Bay to the southeast.
Farming, sawmilling, limestone quarrying and tourism are major local industries. The area around Takaka is mineral-rich, with gold, iron ore, copper, silver and asbestos all found locally, although not all in commercially viable amounts. The area around Takaka Hill is also notable for its cave systems, with New Zealand's deepest vertical shaft, Harwood's Hole located nearby.There is also a big Fonterra dairy factory located in the township of Takaka.
Takaka and Golden Bay are also known for rock climbing, the most area being Paynes Ford. This area is situated about 20 minutes walk from Takaka and has over 200 bolted climbs. The most famous climb is 1080 and the letter G because of its unique "no-hands-rest" at the top and its views of Golden Bay.
The town is also known for Te Waikoropupu Springs (or Pupu Springs), which holds the world record for fresh water clarity.
In June 2005, much of the town was temporarily evacuated after fire swept through Takaka's biggest industrial complex, a dairy factory. There were fears that volatile chemicals stored at the plant might explode, leading to the release of poisonous gases, which later proved to be unfounded.

I read a quote that goes something like this about a month ago. I forgot to bookmark the page and now I can't find it again. I'm not sure what the exact wording was, but it was something similar. I've been trying to find it on Google and similar results pop up, but not the quote I want. The closest I've found so far goes "If you expect the world to be fair with you because you are fair, you're fooling yourself. That's like expecting the lion not to eat you because you didn't eat him". But that wasn't it, because I remember immediately thinking of doing a self portrait with chess pieces when I read the quote I'm talking about, so I'm thinking it probably had the word "game" or "rule" in it. Note to self : next time you find a quote you like, bookmark it or write it down!

As you descend into Frenchman Coulee along the old Vantage Road, there is a small stream that drains from Hilton Lake and drops into the coulee along the North wall of the alcove. I've seen it called several names, including Frenchman Waterfall, Frenchman's Coulee Waterfall, and Stolp Falls.

A casa situa-se na freguesia de Ínsua na região vinícola do Dão. Faz-se o bom vinho do Dão, é famosa pela sua fachada e jardins. A casa foi construída na década de oitenta do século XVIII.
Conta a história da Casa da Ínsua que tem a sua origem na família Albuquerque que surgiu na idade média, por volta do século XII\XIII. São da mesma descendência e por conseguintes parentes, de Afonso de Albuquerque, que foi vice-rei da Índia, tendo sido este nome o resultado da junção das palavras latinas, albus, que significa branco e quercus, que significa carvalho. A família estalou-se na beira por volta do século XIV/XV, na vila de Sátão, cerca de dez quilómetros a norte de Penalva do Castelo.
A casa onde vivia situava-se no lugar onde actualmente fica o chamado Soar dos Albuquerques. Os Albuquerques da beira são descendentes de João Afonso de Albuquerque, trineto de D. Dinis. É nesta linhagem que nasce em 1739, na vila do Ládário (a cerca de 10Km de Penalva do Castelo), Luís de Albuquerque de Mello Pereira Alcáceres.
Os turistas poderão ter uma visita guiada aos jardins, à capela, à adega e à entrada da casa. A quinta da casa da Ínsua é difícil dizer onde começa e onde acaba, tendo as ruas, nomes escritos em placas.
Os jardins possuem vários tipos e formas de flores, como camélias e roseiras. Mas a flor mais famosa dos jardins, é a flor de lótus, com enormes folhas e que não dura mais de 48 horas, apesar de estar no lago, rodeada de nenúfares. Os eucaliptos fazem sombra ao lago criando uma perfeita atmosfera de romantismo.
A casa da Ínsua recebe turistas todo o ano, incluindo Sábados, Domingos e feriados. As visitas são guiadas e realizam-se entre as 10h às 12h e das 13h às 21h. Cómo orar a Dios es un tema muy importante para todos los cristianos. La oración a menudo es ignorada por nosotros en nuestra vida diaria. Muchas veces, oramos ante Dios de manera superficial, simplemente pasando por las formalidades. Nunca hemos presentado nuestros corazones ante Dios para tener oraciones verdaderas, y simplemente nos apresuramos a ir ante Él para orar y admirarlo cuando nos encontramos con algunos problemas. Es por esa actitud que no sabemos cómo orar a Dios correctamente, incluso si hemos creído en Él por muchos años. Hoy, compartamos cómo orar a Dios juntos.
¿Qué significa realmente orar?
Un día, un amigo mío vino a mi casa y se reunió conmigo. Al hablar sobre este tema, el sacó un libro y me leyó: "¿Qué significa orar realmente? Quiere decir hablar con Dios las palabras que están dentro de tu corazón y comunicarte con Dios después de que comprendiste Su voluntad, basándote en Sus palabras; quiere decir sentirte particularmente cerca de Dios, sentir que Él está enfrente de ti y que tú tienes algo que decirle; y quiere decir que está especialmente radiante dentro de tu corazón y sentir que Dios es especialmente precioso. Te vas a sentir especialmente constreñido y, después de escuchar tus palabras, tus hermanos y hermanas se van a sentir complacidos, van a sentir que las palabras que hablas son las palabras que están dentro de sus corazones, las palabras que quieren decir y que lo que tú dices representa lo que ellos quieren decir. Esto es lo que significa orar verdaderamente". De "Acerca de la práctica de la oración" Este párrafo de palabras me permitió entender: Una oración verdadera significa hablar nuestras sinceras palabras a Dios y abrir nuestros corazones para estar en comunión con Él acerca de nuestras dificultades, las cosas que enfrentamos y las preguntas que no entendemos. Al orar a Dios y acercarnos a Él, comprendemos su voluntad y encontramos las formas de practicar. Con una oración como esta, podemos tener una mente clara e iluminada bajo la guía de Dios, para que podamos ver la verdadera naturaleza de los problemas más a fondo. Mientras tanto, podemos sentir que Dios tiene razón a nuestro lado; nuestros corazones se sentirán particularmente cerca de Él y nuestra relación con Él se acerca gradualmente. Si siempre oramos a Dios de esta manera, nuestras oraciones estarán detrás de su corazón y seguramente serán respondidas.

This process lifts the emulsion from the paper (by the H2O2) and simultaneosly bleaches it with Copper Bleach and Acetic Acid.
Redeveloped in old and diluted D-76.
Post drying toned in Se 1+5-6 30 sec and fixed in Fomafix 1+4, 2 min.
Rest in your veils, small bottles. And enjoy the Selenium :-)

25173 to the annoyance of many sat spare on Bletchley HS on December 14th's Sunday morning Bletchley - Northampton drags. Many 31's worked but the story goes from a good source that the morning isolation overun and 25173 dragged 1S63 1245 Euston - Glasgow from Bletchley to Hanslope Jn . The 25 had moved as we returned to Leighton around 1400. This would have been the last local WCML class 25 passenger working too but as yet nobody knows for sure....
