Having decided to photograph the afternoon train from Malakwal climbing the last mile or so up the Khewra branch I must find a way to get there before the train does.
An important feature of the transportation geography here is the Jhelum river, which is a major river flowing through the Punjab out of the Himalaya. In the dry seasons it runs shallow through narrow channels, in spring when the snow melts and later when the rain comes it is a different matter, the volume of water it carries is vast. The only bridge over the river anywhere near Malakwal carries the railway line towards Khushab, not to far on the Malakwal side of Haran Pur Junction, a distance of just over eleven Kilometres to Haran Pur. By road it is eighty five!
So I have taken the morning Khushab train to Pind Dadan Khan. Just behind me is a road crossing the railway, it is only six kilometres up to Khewra and I am sure I will not have to walk. A group of university students have kept me company up to Haran Pur, they are also travelling to Pind Dadan Khan, but as was usual here I have been invited onto the footplate so swapped my travelling companions there.
Here the train disgorges passengers at Pind Dadan Khan who take the quickest route to the towns main street, and I have got off the footplate quickly to try and include them in a photo.

The major change when my gas leak was fixed, was that the gas pipe that fed my fireplace had to be sealed off. So, no more gas fireplace. I decided to get an electric fireplace insert, which I had installed today. It does produce heat and some flickering flames, but not as realistic as I thought they would be based on the comments people left.
This wasn't my present, and I didn't help build it, but I like it. I am really impressed that the magnifying glass is an actual magnifying glass.

My friend Kurt and I puff on our pipes as we pose on this exposed ruin of a fireplace mantle. This ruin is not far from the cabins and café, it's near the amphitheater, but has no historical markers or information that I could find. If anyone has any info on this ruin, it would be great to know it's era and original purpose of design.

Bajo esas aguas transparentes y aparentemente poco profundas, se encuentra un complejÃsimo sistema de grutas de origen kárstico -es decir, de piedras solubles, principalmente caliza. Se podrÃa decir que la Fuentona es una especie de embudo geológico: tiene una pequeña laguna de la que, en uno de sus laterales, se abre un conducto llamado sifón. Esta especie de grieta tiene dos galerÃas y, entre estas, una zona no inundada o campana.
La Fuentona, situada en Soria, forma parte de lo que ha sido llamado ""la cercanÃa de lo desconocido"", un espacio tan inexplorado como zonas de la Luna o del interior de la Antártida.

This day we spent exploring the city of Angkor Wat.
It included such sights as Kbal Spean, Banteay Samre, Sras Srang, Banteay Kdei, Ta Prohm Temple, Chau Say Tevoda and Thommanon.
