half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time that we rushed through life trying to save.
I made a couple types of date balls by putting a bunch of pitted dates in the food processer and adding various other things... I added about 20 dates, a tablespoon of lemon juice, 1 tsp of vanilla, 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1/4 tsp salt, walnuts, rolled oats and coconut.
In the batch for Joe (who is allergic to nuts) I substituted a few pieces of rice cake for the nuts, just to give it some crunch. Both were quite tastey!

Progress to date (Dec 14th) on this tiny beast of a puzzle. I've spent two or three sessions on it since the BCD meeting. The main progress is in completing the lantern area, significant additions in the jetty and minor additions in the lower right corner and central top area. There is not much variation in tone in the remaining pieces and the life-sized guide picture (tucked under the board) is significantly lighter and more colourful than the actual jigsaw. At the moment the plan is to take it back to the next BCD meeting to finish off there.
This is a modern mini-puzzle, 'wooden' made by ECO in China (Luminous World). It was a bargain I ordered on ebay from Hong Kong for about £6 including postage to the UK. I expected it to be made from thin diecut wood in a conventional 'cardboard' cut, but I was surprised and slightly horrified by the size of the 1000 tiny shiny pieces when I opened the small box.
The completed jigsaw measures 38x26cm and the guide picture is larger and it only fits in the box diagonally when folded in six. The rear of the jigsaw has six sections of patterned paper - circles, stars etc, allowing you to sort the pieces by section, but only the hearts allow you to orient the pieces within the section. It is a very nice painting of a girl sitting on a jetty watching a firework display across a bay. Emma, being up for almost anything took it on gleefully, wrestled with it (and almost mastered it by the end of the meeting, in spite of a long period spent in a committee meeting).
For the 5th and final look, Cindy thought it would be fun to try the wardrobe staple - The classic Little Black Dress...
The dress Cindy suggested was rather nice with a sequined top. Cindy paired the dress with another bolero style jacket (she seems to have a fondness for these) and accessorised with a necklace, bracelet and a ring.
I remember saying to Cindy that the dress struck me as something one might wear for drinks and dinner on "Date Night" so I thought that's the caption I'd use for these photos.
