A pretty typical Melbourne winters day. Clouds. Some blue patches. The weather could have gone either way, but on this day, the clouds cleared and it was a beautiful day.

Wasn't looking forward to the 3 hour drive back home. What was left of the storm was a HP mess. I sat back for about 30 minutes and let the rain push east. After I got my bearings, I was headed east.
Sun was setting. I was under the perfect light conditions. Back side of the storm, via Hwy 6/34. I couldn't have asked a better photographic opportunity.

The North Coast of Madeira is synonymous with raw, untouched beauty. The landscape is dramatic, with steep cliffs plunging into the Atlantic Ocean.

trying out another monochrome image for today's post. This is based on my colour post of the Belhaven Bridge near Dunbar in East Lothian. The crossing is frequently referred to as the 'Bridge to Nowhere' which should be pretty obvious why when you see it like this.
Within a few minutes, the bright sunny morning darkened as the heavy cloud cover of a cold front rolled over the area.
Viewed from the tip of Belle Isle, an island State Park in the Detroit River.

Forming storm cells in northern Buffalo county, and moving slowly due south. You could see the sufficient cloud to ground lightning firing off every few second as I was driving north, right under base of the storm. With the low cloud cover there wasn't much of a photographic oppertunity I had to move south again.
Sitting right on the western outskirts of Kearney, I was out of the low cloud cover, clear skies to the west with this approaching storm cell was almost to good to be true!
This was one of the few times I had the opportunity to capture lightning this past summer of 2016. Lightning is tough to capture the way it is and I'm still learning techniques to do better. I would say these captures came out better than expected.

Spring cleaning...it’s amazing how a good rain can freshen and green things up. Stay at home all day long.
One of the more spectaculars sunset skies and its reflection on windows and the Burrard Inlet. Tiny lights in distance are those on a ship at anchor.
This is sunset i caught the other week @ east head which is in the witterings. I was hope for water on the posts but i messed the tides up. Well that is just me. lol But the sunset set i got i think makes up for it. Long exposures do really bright out the power of the elements. :-)
I love these posts i'm going to get the tides right before i venue over again.
It was built by the Bissett family in the 13th century. The Bissett family were forfeited their lands in Scotland in 1242. In 1565, the castle was burned to the ground by Shane O'Neill, chief of the O'Neills of Tyrone; it was rebuilt but later fell into disrepair.
In 1604 the castle was restored and was later destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in 1652 during the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland.

"Stacked Plates" is storm chasers jargon for us to describe a strongly striated mesocyclone! Oh this was a B E A U T Y!
Late August 2011. This was a LP (Low Precip) Storm, and she didn't drop an ounce of rain. If anything did come down it evaporated before it hit the ground. It was so damn hot and humid and was just happy the sun was blocked out by the clouds and then this came along. Along with the severe warning it had on it a few counties north of my location as it moved south.
You can clearly see the mid-level inflow bands. Better known as striations. These were so well defined it was jaw dropping!
When the storm got close enough I couldn't really see or verify a wall cloud of any type. We had a few lowerings, but nothing significant to get me to report it. So I really can't call this a supercell. But it sure was fun one to witness!

Almost late June 2020, and the severe weather season has been just down right horrible for anything of photographic value this year. I mean this when I say Chase Locally. Due to Health issues, Truck maintenance issues, Equipment Issues, Camera Issues... With all that has been going on in my life, I've had to pick my chasing days and nights carefully this year. To be 100% Honest... I'm just happy I get to chase! Never let bad things set you back when the opportunity presents itself. That's my motto!
Luckily I had all my gear ready to go when when had strong severe thunderstorms develop in north central Nebraska and they were cresting southward down to south central Nebraska. My home turf.
This time of year is when everything changes weather wise here in south central Nebraska. Monsoons down in the southwest part of the US are firing and that usually means for us no storms. Not in 2020. Even though we had a late start to severe weather season here... mother nature hasn't let me down so far. She has remained active in my neck of the woods.
All the storms this day were outflow boundary generated storms. Meaning no tornadoes this day. Though I did capture 1 funnel, you'll see this in the video. Though with outflow dominate storms shelf clouds form and they can be more than picturesque. Its what I was hunting for this day! Oh did I get some and then some!

Photo I took just before driving into the worst storm I have ever been out in. The wind and hail within it cost me (and the insurance company) a new front windshield.
Snow is falling on stormy-looking Book Cliffs in the background as Union Pacific’s LJP45 “dirt train” local rolls into brilliant sunshine as it passes through Banning, Utah, on February 5, 2004. This local hauled contaminated dirt and municipal trash (and other waste) to a landfill at East Carbon from its home terminal of Helper, and was the last stompin’ grounds for Rio Grande’s EMD SD40T-2 Tunnel Motor fleet as they dwindled on UP’s roster in the early 2000s.
There are several hiking trails at Roxborough State Park, CO. In some spots the trail seemed more like a drainage gully.
We should have paid more attention to the dark clouds building at the horizon, on the right side of the picture.
This is the first picture posted on flickr that I have taken with my cell phone.

Waiting...
Due to the El Niño (The Super El Niño that is forming in the Pacific) is going to hinder the storm development this year here in Nebraska.
I'll be honest. Our weather pattern here is not favorable for development of severe weather in 2023. June usually comes in with a boom. Simply it hasn't. 30 Day models right now have all the storms north & south of Nebraska. It is the Omega Bubble effect & Nebraska is Bullseye for 2023. So I'm gonna take what I can get.
I have been ailing a really bad back injury from years past. Hindered my chasing in mid to late May. Was unable to do so because I simply couldn't get into my truck.
Feeling better the first part of June I pulled out the cams out in front of the homestead & captured this nice early June storm here in south central Nebraska. Severe Warned but that was about it. Had some small hail & much need rain.
I enjoyed getting out & back on the Hunt!

This is PART 1
In my own opinion....One of the best things on this Planet to experience as a human being...
Sitting on the side of a supercell at sunset in Nebraska! What I was about to witness was going to be epic! True Thunderstorm Eye Candy! Tons of ambient cloud to cloud lightning! Erupting over the spacious Nebraska Skyline..
Front row tickets to the show and this was going to be a double creature feature!
