Something I've noticed about piers. No matter the weather or the time of day, there is always somebody fishing on them.

The nature around Aachen is really worth seeing. There are hills and the forest area is extensive. Add to that the beautiful meadows and a walk there will certainly do you good. This photo I took at a green open field where I walked barefoot in the grass with my shoes in the hand. For me that is freedom and I felt one with the earth.

This set of images is what I live for... Those epic moments when you finally hunted/found what your looking for. It does take a lot of patience to storm chase. The waiting, the planning, the doing. But the rewards at the end are priceless. My antlers on the wall.
Now for some storm chasers... the Holy Grail of Storm chasing is a Tornado. But not for me. It is events like this that give the full definition of Storm Chasing. It really what storm chasing Eye Candy is all about! It is the "Why" or the understanding of why I do this!
One the edge of this Nebraska Supercell I felt the AWE of Mother Nature!
Surreal!
Epic
Awesome!

Mixed Light Series
The time of day that draws me in where electric light and natural evening light meet creating a few moments of a special blend that alters both.
I processed the image with a painterly abstraction expressing my impression of the moment.

Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls with water flowing below a lava field and right out of rocks. There are a couple of observation decks from where you can get good views and photographs.

This slow moving storm cell was perfect. This strong, violent, night beast was producing dangerous cloud to ground lightning.
We had met up with some other local chases and now were sitting just to the east of Red Cloud Nebraska.
Right under the base of this storm, I was finally in position to capture some incredible lightning. Some of my best night captures of 2016

It's eight miles around Mackinac Island on this narrow bicycle/horse carriage road. On a cold, rainy, foggy October day, the entire road belonged to me.
Another take from the fascinating Grey Wethers double stone circle. A few standing stones of the first circle are in the foreground, the second stone circle in the background.
This was the last photo I took here before we continued our walk back into the forest. Ironically, after about 3 min walk small gaps in the clouds opened up and for a brief moment the stone circles were illuminated against a dark grey background - would have been epic lighting for this location! At least I could feast my eyes on it but we were too far away for me to take any good photo at that point.
To quote Arnie: I'll be back!

Dark clouds over Lake Shikaribetsu in the south-eastern part of Daisetsuzan National Park, Hokkaido, Japan.
The scene deems well suited for black-and-white rendering. Therefore, I converted the original colour photo, and added some noise (let’s call it grain… 😉) to give it a more film-like look.

I had seen this reed bed at the beginning of my walk and before the sun had appeared. On my return I was greeted with this.
Great potential late summer!
It was a strange weather. I saw beautiful sunshine, then heavy dark sky and snow was falling heavily. And I just wanted to capture this.

September was still hot & humid within the wide open plains of Nebraska. The drought this time of year is normal. The heat is not. Was lucky to get this lone storm that afternoon.
The winding down of the storm season is right on time. We did have a few night storms with some good lighting. But my time is limited this time of year. Was only able to get this event.
A photogenic storm was what I need & what was received that afternoon. It was the last storm that I chased for 2022.
Thanks for Watching & Supporting my Photography here on Flickr!

It's been a while since I uploaded any black and white photo so I thought with lots of similar photos from our walk along the beach last Sunday it will be a good opportunity to convert one of the shots into back and white. Usually I think about wheter the final photo will be in colour or black and white before I take the photo but in that case both would have worked.
Do you also know this special feeling when you have a camera in your hands? The feeling to have to make a photo of something and it doesn’t matter what? When I have such feelings I’m like a dog chasing cars. I wouldn’t know what to do with one if I caught it ;-) And so it was on this day in winter when I suddenly stopped to look at the mountains in the distance. After some time without a camera in my hands I only wanted to photograph something, no matter what the outcome would be!
I was on a walk with our dog Giorgio and I saw three hikers climbing a mountain. You can see three little dots in the left half of the image. These are the three hikers. The scene looked so beautiful and it’s hard to stay mad, when there’s so much beauty in the world like this incredible view. The scene looked like a distant dream. And whenever I try to remember such dreams, I always convert them into stories. But dreams are like life. You can’t catch it with your hands because you can’t catch something you don’t really see. But this scene was there and I saw it before my eyes.
I didn’t put the scene in front of a mirror and asked me if this would be a good picture. For me it was nice and this feeling did not care whether I was here since hours or only just arrived, if the weather was fine or not. The only thing my feelings wanted was that my heart was free. And I had the courage to follow it!
I want to thank all very much for your "views", "Comments" and "Favourites" :-) The only thing that matters is that you have joy in this photo. Again, thank you :-)

Andy Rouse and I had an early start to go and photograph Ribblehead Viaduct. When we got there the weather wasn’t too great; lots of low dark clouds with the occasional break allowing the sun to shine through and fall on the hills in the background. The weather was like this for the best part of the morning with some light rain from time to time. The farmhouse is situated very close to the viaduct; which was behind me….!
