Finally some needed rain in the desert!

I took some sunset photos during a mist over the ocean water and this is the result. The setting sun shows red just underneath the mist but above the water as it went down. A green camera glare is present in the photo also.

Taken at Louisbourg, which is on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada.

This was my first opportunity to catch this frivolous night of electrical delights! (I've caught many more in 2023)

Yeah, I've caught some lightning earlier in 2023, but I actually dedicate time specifically for lighting. This was one of those nights. In fact the first one of 2023.

I have this uncanny knack to get to the right place at the right time when it comes to storms... This one was another spot on encounter. I decided to eyeball this storm and put away the radar and other electronics and just chase use the old way.

It had been a few weeks since any good photographic storms. We had Severe Thunderstorm warnings counties south of Phelps county (Located in South Central Nebraska) that afternoon.

Raced this cell and I was now in position to capture this beauty. Just a few miles north of Elm Creek on Hwy 183. This place has the best view over the valley. Worst cell phone reception ever.. even with a 4g booster I couldn't push out a signal.

A few hours after sunset the first of the storms were entering our area from the due south southwest. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said that this storm was gaining strength as if crept slowly ever so closer.

The amount of cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning was excessive. Excessive & Impressive. The video from this night says it all.

Enjoy these captures from this evening. Some of the best lightning I've caught in YEARS!

Early season storms here in Nebraska are simply surreal. The epic beauty that surpasses the sunset's ability to crest its light against the ominous position of this storm that evening.

Sunset cresting into twilight with a huge anvil (Cumulonimbus Incus) approaching from the northwest into South Central Nebraska.

I had way over colorized saturated other things to this original set of images. So I went back & took the raw images back to their original color templates & remastered them back to the original color specs of the origin image.

I only had a few of these published when I posted them back in 2017. Here is the entire set reworked!

Seen from the rooftop of the Schotish National Museum.

Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, from its position on the Castle Rock. Archaeologists have established human occupation of the rock since at least the Iron Age (2nd century AD), although the nature of the early settlement is unclear. There has been a royal castle on the rock since at least the reign of David I in the 12th century, and the site continued at times to be a royal residence until 1633. From the 15th century the castle's residential role declined, and by the 17th century it was principally used as military barracks with a large garrison. Its importance as a part of Scotland's national heritage was recognised increasingly from the early 19th century onwards, and various restoration programmes have been carried out over the past century and a half. As one of the most important strongholds in the Kingdom of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle was involved in many historical conflicts from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century to the Jacobite rising of 1745. Research undertaken in 2014 identified 26 sieges in its 1100-year-old history, giving it a claim to having been "the most besieged place in Great Britain and one of the most attacked in the world".[2]

Took this breathtaking scenery from a gondola in Engelberg during my recent trip to Switzerland.

Throughout the morning it had rained continuously. And in the afternoon, when it stopped raining we came to a clearing from which one we had and amazing view over the entire city of Biel. The air was still damp and dark clouds hung in the sky. Nevertheless we were glad the rain stopped it at least! We stood there and enjoyed the view, our dogs ran around and the kids were playing on the fields.

And suddenly there was this one special moment. This very brief moment lasting only for half a minute. The clouds broke and the sun rays lit up this tree in front of us. I’m not very religious, and I also never pray. But I think it would be not bad if I did it now and then. In younger years I have even read the Old Testaments several times out of curiosity and I must admit that I did not understand it until today.

But the sun’s rays brought the tree to light up and I remembered dare a passage in the Old Testament which can be said to describe the different trees in the Garden of Eden. Out of the ground the Lord God made various trees grow that were delightful to look at and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

I want to thank all very much for your "views", "Comments" and "Favourites" :-) The only thing that matters is that you have joy in this photo. Again, thank you :-)

An Epic Chase Day was upon us. Though the rest of the Nation was celebrating the Holiday. National Weather Service had us pegged for a moderate risk that afternoon & evening. Due to my injures to my back the past few months. Chasing Storms has been on the back burner... Until Now!!!

First cells of the day were in North Central Kansas. The boundary line was from North Central Kansas up to Norfolk Nebraska & a bit further north. All the action that day was going to be the east of Hastings Nebraska & South. Planned it out correctly for time & distance.

We encountered this incredible updraft structure on the back side of this storm as we were passing though Hastings Nebraska. Were were trying to catch up to it Via Hwy 6 & we eventually we did just to the east to Sutton Nebraska.

This storm was producing 2" hail so we held off a few mins to the the west of Sutton. We had perfect view of the wall cloud due southwest of the hail core. Had a nice tail but never formed.

Proceeded south to get south of this revved up supercell. We got along side of it via Hwy 81 south of Geneva Nebraska. Few miles south of Strang Nebraska we got ahead of the rain core & got in sight (paralleled to this storm) of this incredible developing wall cloud under the base of this storm. It did not produce a tornado but the views from this supercell were down right spectacular.

We had to reposition ourselves a few miles south of Bruning Nebraska as this Supercell move south southeast.

The video & images I caught that afternoon were worth the trip. Phenomenal Storm Captures out on the plains of South Central Nebraska on the 4th of July.

Made it home to light of some fireworks & delicious bbq. Nice end to this day with family & friends after this Epic Storm Chasing Day!

Hwy 2 Bound Northwest...

Boiling afternoon temps... was a relief when the the cloud cover finally covered the sun that afternoon. From about 103 to 85 was a welcomed relief. I would be in the thick of it soon.

This monstrous storm system was creeping in from the northwest. As I got closer, or as it approached... it was from horizon to horizon.

Stormy weather is not great for hiking, but often offers many opportunities for different views of an interesting subject. In this case, I was totally fascinated with the Lower Ore Dock in the downtown harbor of Marquette, Michigan. I took about 150 pictures of it, one at a time(no bursts), at different times, on different days, so that each was a unique picture. I saved about a 15 of them.

Hope that everyone likes this one as much as I did. It's the lower ore dock just after a heavy storm passed, and with the sun just beginning to re-emerge.

I was seriously late the game on this storm. But I was never out of the game. I had missed a few of the other tornados that afternoon in Northern Yuma County. Coming from south to north I had to position myself correctly. Chaser Convergence was also in full swing so there were not may open areas to choose from.

For best pics of a Tornado and to be safe about it a storm such as this was moving North by Northeast... strategically, you want to be to the south east, southwest for the best light... Behind the RFD (Rear Flank Downdraft) It's all about timing, and I honestly didn't think it would produce a tornado til it was well west of my location. That was going to be the wrong guess... Though when I went due north of Wray I had a good viewing point but not in the safest location as you see.

I got lucky this day as...In my opinion, I found a perfect view, looking due south southeast. I ended up on the northwest side of the rotation. Dangerous yes...but this will eventually give me one excellent view of this tornado and all her glory.

Staying as safe as I could I wouldn't bail till it was about a mile away then I would head north again to a safer / better viewing position.

So the storms redeveloped as we hastened our way back to the Scottsbluff area. Cells developed to our south into western Nebraska via Kimball County, and we were way to far away to catch up.

We had our own storm coming over the ridge from the southwest. By the time we got into city limits the storm was already on top of us. We decided to head east of Scottsbluff towards the city of Minatare Nebraska. At least we would see something.

Beautiful Structure ... Side view of this approaching supercell.

It was to good to be true, but right after sunset a secondary small non severe thunderstorm started to brew just to the southwest of Kearney.

Even though I just had a spectacular afternoon of some incredible stormscapes, I was in for a treat this night. An electrified thriller, one storm that I wont soon forget.

Almost late June 2020, and the severe weather season has been just down right horrible for anything of photographic value this year. I mean this when I say Chase Locally. Due to Health issues, Truck maintenance issues, Equipment Issues, Camera Issues... With all that has been going on in my life, I've had to pick my chasing days and nights carefully this year. To be 100% Honest... I'm just happy I get to chase! Never let bad things set you back when the opportunity presents itself. That's my motto!

Luckily I had all my gear ready to go when when had strong severe thunderstorms develop in north central Nebraska and they were cresting southward down to south central Nebraska. My home turf.

This time of year is when everything changes weather wise here in south central Nebraska. Monsoons down in the southwest part of the US are firing and that usually means for us no storms. Not in 2020. Even though we had a late start to severe weather season here... mother nature hasn't let me down so far. She has remained active in my neck of the woods.

All the storms this day were outflow boundary generated storms. Meaning no tornadoes this day. Though I did capture 1 funnel, you'll see this in the video. Though with outflow dominate storms shelf clouds form and they can be more than picturesque. Its what I was hunting for this day! Oh did I get some and then some!
