The mountain 'Hoher Ifen' in the Austrian Alps and the house 'Waldesruh' in Oberwäldele.
There is more information about the house under my photo 'Home Forest Peace'
While photographing the drama in the mountains behind, I was taken by this shaft of sunlight that illuminated the lemon tree in front of me.

An EPIC Nebraska Thunderset (Thunderstorm @ Sunset)!
Nebraska has many different views... Sunsets are one of my favorite things to take the time and watch. This one this evening after the storm had dissipated... simply was surreal!
Glowing prisms of colors coming off of the Nebraska Plains... Need I Say More... If you Luv Sunsets... Your gonna love this one in Nebraska!

The D.H. Day Farm once was a 400 acre spread, home to 400 hogs and 200 Holstein cattle. Reportedly, there was an orchard of 4000 cherry and apple trees, and crops to feed all of the animals. These outbuildings, built in the 1880s and 1890s, dominate the landscape when viewed from the road and from my favorite perch atop the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes.
Today the farm is privately-owned, but because it is situated within the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore, there is a stipulation that the owner must preserve the historical appearance of the property. The farm, and the nearby historical buildings in Glen Haven, Michigan (which are owned by the National Park Service), are important icons of Michigan;s agricultural heritage.

Sony ILCE-7RM5 + Monster LA-KE1 Pentax K to Sony E Mount Adapter + Pentax DFA 28-105 ED DC WR
Note that the focal length presented in the EXIF data is not correct. I was shooting a Pentax lens on the Sony A7RV with the Monster LA-KE1 adapter. Occasionally the EXIF data do not register accurately when using the Monster adapter. The lens is the Pentax DFA 28-105. I'll guess that the focal length was near 30-50mm.
Sometimes less is more.
The light was right, the clouds were right and Caroline and I enjoyed both and time in the snow.....

From our fab family hike on Dartmoor last Sunday. It's a lovely wild rugged granite landscape up there - a mere 30 min from our doorstep (well a bit more if you include hiking up to this place from the car park). We sheltered like sheep at the granite outcrops in the background of this view as there was a particularly dark cloud passing by which offloaded a bit of drizzle.

I've been waiting... & I've had some opportunities to chase the past few systems that came through eastern Nebraska. But I didn't. Time factors & distance would have put me back home about 4:30am. I'm getting older... my bio-clock wasn't going to let me chase those storms.
Watching all the freak'n incredible pics every year, come across my feed from other chasers across the nation. Just some phenomenal storm photography already in 2023. I finally get to get a few snaps of some weak storms out that evening. At least it is a start.
I have to be patient & wait till late April to mid May to see anything of photographic significance come into play into south central Nebraska & north central Kansas. I'm not the only one noticing that 2023 has been weary of our normal moisture flow this time of year. Its has been rather dry & the drought here continues. Especially Western & South Central Nebraska this year.
I was glad to blow the dust of the old cam & get a few snaps of this evenings storm. Non Severe as it passed through south central Nebraska this evening. It sure was photogenic. Bet the farmers were enjoying what rain we did get out of this system.

Since moving to Arizona in early June, I am experiencing a very hot summer and my first monsoon season. With that brings a lot of desert lightning. I was exhausted and in bed half-asleep, but decided I would try my first attempt at capturing lightning. I think I got lucky...
Saw this coming home from Harper's Ferry last Sunday. I found it interesting that it has both an antennae and what looks like a satellite dish but no sign of anyone living or working there. Unfortunately Anita and I are not riding out and about today. Seems I picked up a Covid bug somewhere last Sunday. This makes 2x for me. Happy to say it's a bit like a bad cold so Much Much milder than the first go around. Time to dig into those photo files and do some deleting and processing! Have a great rest of the weekend everyone!

Shot was taken in Robberg Nature Reserve near Plettenberg Bay in South Africa. When we headed towards Plettenberg Bay the weather forecast said there will be heavy thunder storms - however we were lucky - no rain so we could do the walk. Luckily we had some major clouds and this wonderful fog heading up the cliffs from the sea - made the pictures more interesting than blue skies :-). It was one of the most wonderful walks of this journey.

This is Black Tor from our fantastic day hiking on Dartmoor last Saturday. The approach was rocky and would have been perfect for a Lord of the Ring's scene! The first part of our hike was pretty windy and drizzly but upon reaching the tor the weather started to change. I got some pretty nice conditions for a photo with sunlit rocks and dark clouds in the back. There's some terrific views from up there - both, into the distant countryside as well as towards Black-a-Tor Copse (see previous upload). As we just visited another tor called Black Tor the week before I wonder how many granite stacks carry the same name...
Yesterday we visited the fabulous double stone circle of Grey Wethers. This Bronze Age site features 2 large stone circles close to each other, the centre of both circles is almost perfectly North-South oriented. When the circles were excavated they found large amounts of charcoal in the centre. The reason for erecting 2 stone circles next to each other remains a mystery only Bronze Age folk would be able to answer.
I took this one on our way from Pew Tor towards Windy Post Cross (see previous upload). We had a really lovely and sunny picnic up at Pew Tor but the weather was quite volatile last Saturday and the dark clouds moved in quickly. We followed the Grimstone and Scortridge Leat, a little stream crossing the open moorland in between the tors. There were Dartmoor ponies and sheep scattered around in the landscape. While we approached this lovely couple I noticed a patch of bright sunshine moving towards us so I quickly got the camera ready and waited for the ponies to be in the sunshine for my photo.
