A dandelion is a flower. Its scientific name is Taraxacum, a large genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae.Tar axacum are native to Eurasia, and have been widely introduced to North and South America as well as other continents and are an invasive species in some areas.

People may not care for weeds in their gardens, but dandelions—and certain other weeds—are edible and can be used for a whole host of culinary purposes. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics notes that edible wild greens, like dandelion, taste good, are low in calories and are packed with vitamins.

Although I don't remember where I took this shot, the vegetation tells me somewhere around Los Osos, California

Springtime is here! Yessssssss.

Here in North Carolina, we're experiencing the seasonal change in full effect. Temperatures well into the 70's, plentiful sunshine and of course, our reward for dealing with seemingly endless rain over the past couple months - flowers!

I, for one, always enjoy the sight of dandelions. They have a knack for conjuring up fun childhood memories of simpler times. Weed or not, they're still pretty.

Very sweet horse with a great horsey sense of humor.

Happy Dandelion Bokeh Wednesday! Please grab all of these you can and wish.

Thanks as always for your friendships, comments, faves and more. I hope soon to be able to get out with my camera and catch some of the budding trees.

I liked the photo so much during taking the wig wearing shots to update website. Be the first to see this photo's on Flickr ^ ^

I have never tried these. Doubt I would, they probably have too much sugar in them.

A Boatshed article describes the Dandy as being 15'9" long by 5'11" beam, 1'6" draft, with 4'9" headroom under the shelter; two berths inside. The figures may not be accurate though - they estimate displacement at 1000kg, which sounds a lot too much to me. I think the boats were built in the 1970s. All likely to be in somewhat tired condition by now.

Dandy comic free gift - added to rubbery head on the book shelf.

In spring I always recall my Grandpa Cofield singing "Johnny Jump Up, give Dandelion a chair. She's so old and feeble, just see her snow white hair.

Two uploads today, won't be around tommorow, so making up for it now instead...with yes, you guessed it...More shots from the shoot last Monday.

Much more serene this time of Rebecca amongst the dandelions.

My local Ben Franklins sent out a coupon so I added a cling stamp to my HA family. This is my first card with youngest addition. ENJOY! Linda aka Oz
