Unitrans operated two of these 1969 Daimler Fleetline buses in regular transit service until the late 1990s. They were finally retired because they had become money-pit maintenance nightmares.

Although a World War Two vehicle the Daimler remained in service as an armoured car until the 1960s.

Daimler half -cab bus for sale Taken on Kodachorme on 8 Mar 1969

Northern Counties bodied Daimler CVG6 VTU 76 was delivered new to the Stalybridge, Hyde, Mossley & Dukinfield Transport & Electricity Board and was first registered on 2nd February 1956. In 1969 the SHMD fleet passed to the SELNEC PTE who renumbered 76 as 5676. The SHMD fleetname and arms were removed but none of the batch received SELNEC livery or fleetnames, retaining SHMD light green livery until finally withdrawn early in 1972. 76 was bought for preservation on withdrawal, and is now with its third owner since. It is very much in original condition with the exception of some minor front end alterations (notice the lean?) arising from a collision with a terraced house while on service; the bus survived but the house was so badly damaged that it had to be demolished.

Lavenham, Suffolk, Classic Car Rally Sunday 30th August 2020 was one of the few Summer rallies to actually take place during the Covid pandemic of 2020. It produced a good selection of classic, mostly British, marques, with a preponderance of Jaguar & Daimler models.

Manufactured in 1935, this vehicle started out life as a double-decker bus, but after the second world war a new van body was fitted and used by Birmingham City Transport as a cash carrier.

Back in the day bus fares were often a few old pence - the bank van collected the heavy bags of money from garages and took them to the bank !

I love the Daimler "Dingo" so decided to throw one together. A lot of bricks I'd need for this are being used on other projects so it will need a bit of modification when I have the time. Roughly to minifig scale although to get 2 minifigs in the "turret" would need a lot of modification.

The Daimler Sovereigns were based on contemporary Jaguar bodyshells, chassis and engines in an example of badge engineering. Jaguar Cars took over The Daimler Company in 1960 and the 1966 Sovereign was the second Daimler to be based on a Jaguar model. The first was the 2½ litre V8 with a V8 engine designed by Edward Turner. Unlike the Daimler 2½ litre, the Sovereign had a Jaguar engine, marking the end for the Turner designed engines.

The first Daimler Sovereign was based on the 1966 Jaguar 420 and is sometimes referred to as the "Sovereign 420". Subsequent Sovereigns arose from the Series I, II and III Jaguar XJ6. In 1983 the model name "Sovereign" was switched to the high specification version of the Series III Jaguar XJ6, the 6-cylinder Daimler based on it simply continuing without a model name.

The V12 versions of the Daimler, available from 1972 to 1997, were named Daimler Double-Six after the original Daimler V12s.
