Another archetypal sixties saloon car the Jaguar and Daimler 420 (this one is a Daimler) was slightly bigger and more powerful and luxurious than the mkII and was the true forerunner of the XJ6 which used the same six cylinder 4.2 litre engine.

All together to advocate safe and legal driving, the use of taxi and public transport as an alternative when using alcohol or drugs. Particularly as Christmas approaches, with the number of parties and the general idea of be merry and eat and drink freely, it seemed a good time to post a reminder; Drink/Drug/Distracted Driving is never ok. You’re not special because of your “tolerance” level to alcohol or drugs, any impairment while operating a tonne or more of metal, glass and fuel travelling at speed is likely to be catastrophic. Even if you’re lucky and survive, the guilt should anyone else be injured or killed would be crushing and all consuming, but presumably you’d have a few years to consider that from a prison cell.
There is no fooling a breathalyser, and failure to provide a specimen of breath for analysis can be and is frequently prosecuted under the assumption that you knew you were guilty and were hiding it, so it’s normally a straight disqualification for a year minimum, resitting an extended test, higher insurance premiums and a criminal record which can be taken into consideration when applying for visas.
Essentially, there is no justifiable reason for drunk driving, yet people chance it all the time. It’s still a huge problem, and it’s a huge risk to the lives and qualities of lives of those hurt when a collision happens.
This is an area where my previous and current real life work and my modelling collide, which is why I’m so passionate about it, having seen the impact that driving while unfit or without due care and attention, can have. No booze, no drugs, no phones, no distractions. Driving is a privilege, treat it like a skill to be constantly worked on, and as a source of pride. And if you know someone else is risking their own and others lives and welfare through intoxicated driving, call the police immediately with the registration and direction of travel (if known).
See it? Say it, Sorted.

Lavenham, Suffolk, Classic Car Rally Sunday 30th August 2020 was one of the few Summer rallies to actually take place during the Covid pandemic of 2020. It produced a good selection of classic, mostly British, marques, with a preponderance of Jaguar & Daimler models.
The Corgi Juniors Daimler Fleetline remained in production for decades. This Esso Uniflo variant was one of the very first dating from the early 1970's. The earlier versions had detailed interiors and recessed back window but were quickly cheapened with no interiors and blacked out windows. Mint and boxed.
designed by Richard Rogers.
The three buildings designed by the practice for Daimler Chrysler on Berlin’s Linkstraße form part of the the Potsdamer Platz masterplan by Renzo Piano. B8 is predominantly residential, with retail areas on the ground, first and second floors.
In the original masterplan the three buildings are shown as closed blocks measuring c. 50 m square, but the design opens up the south-east side of the blocks facing the park. This building form allows light to penetrate into the courtyard, atrium and internal spaces, as well as providing all flats with unobstructed views out over the park.
The ratio of glazing areas to solid wall construction is determined by the orientation and analysis of heat losses and solar gains. Whereas the north-east and north-west façades have comparatively little glazing in order to
minimise heat loss during the winter months, the south-west and south-east elevations is generously glazed, with living areas opening onto the garden courtyard.
Conservatories or ‘winter gardens’ adjacent to these living areas maximise the passive use of solar energy. The ‘winter gardens’ act as direct solar gain spaces and buffer zones, with pre-heated air used to ventilate or warm the internal accommodation space in winter. Sun shading provided by aluminium louvres on sliding tracks prevents overheating in summer.
The double-height penthouses are fully glazed to the courtyard side. The glazing system is supported by a water-filled steel structure which acts as a radiator during the winter. Electronically operated sun-shading devices and opening windows minimise solar gain and maximise natural ventilation during the summer.
This is one of the oldest British cars. It has a number of unusual features including Hot Tube ignition, tiller steering, and brakes that clamp down onto the tires of the rear wheels.
