I believe Daimler Fleetline GWA 808N was new to South Yorkshire Transport and later passed to Ribble. Pictured in 1994, it was then operating with AVRO Coaches of Corringham, Essex. Although primarily used on a school bus service, the route was registered as stage service and twice a day ran all around the Basildon area. This was fine as far as I was concerned because it paid more than driving the ordinary school coach. Ultra reliable and never missed a beat.

As well as the Visas, I also got a drive of this, which is as far removed from a Visa as it is possible to get!

A Sheffield Transport Daimler Fleetline, seen outside the City of Manchester stadium. Was also the last ever bus to have been delivered to Sheffield Transport from new.
In 1937 six Daimler COG6's were delivered among all the Roe bodied Leylands then entering the fleet. Numbered 168-173 these appear to have given good service surviving until 1957, yet despite this no further such buses were taken into stock until 25 CVD6's in 1948/49 likely added as a pressing measure to replace decrepit prewar stock. The COG6's seem mostly to have settled down to life on the A route between Chapel Rd and Greenacres, where their (powerful for the time) Gardner 6LW's would have been useful on the ascent of Chamber Rd.
A very rare set of wheels indeed, the Daimler DS420 was a range of luxury limousines built by Daimler Motor Company, which at the time was a division of Jaguar. Built between 1968 and 1992, the cars never really found their way into private use, but were very popular among the Royal Families of Denmark, Sweden and Great Britain.
In civilian life, they can be mainly found at either weddings (like this one) or funerals.
Lavenham, Suffolk, Classic Car Rally Sunday 30th August 2020 was one of the few Summer rallies to actually take place during the Covid pandemic of 2020. It produced a good selection of classic, mostly British, marques, with a preponderance of Jaguar & Daimler models.
Your chauffeur awaits with the Daimler outside the entrance to the City Chambers at George Square, 30th July, 2011.
One of my Daimlers1/4 of the way through restoration.
Its very low mileage (57000) & mechanically perfect but was suffering from the inevitable tinworm.
The elderly owner before me had had it from new, but thanks to deteriorating eyesight had hit quite a few things including all 4 doors & both rear arches on his driveway fence posts!
A few weeks of rubbing down, panel beating, a slight skim of filler on the doors, making repair panels and MIG welding later it got to this stage. Getting the door swage lines straight was a nightmare!
The plan was to restore it to original. Unfortunately a neighbours 13yo kid has recently got into it (Dec 07) and done a fair amount of damage to the interior (he also attacked my daily driver Daimlers locks to nick fags).
This has made me loose all heart in the project, so now I`m tempted to make her into a rat rod custom (similar to my old mad max style Matt black Vauxhall VX2300!). It may well end up matt black, with chrome tint windows and possibly rolling on a set of 18 inch trispoke alloys[next pic] from another one of my Daimlers!.
This 1967(?) Daimler Fleetline, #6774, and its twin #6773 have been retired from service. This photo was taken in about 1995. The two Daimlers and their original Gardner engines became less and less reliable and were finally removed from service in about 1998.
Seen here moments after it's arrival at Beamish Museum is Roe bodied Ex-Darlington Corporation Transport 1964-built Daimler CCG5, registered 304 VHN.
304 VHN (or No.4 as she is better known) worked in Darlington from 1966 until 1981 when she became the very last dual crewed bus to work in that town.
The bus is the latest transport acquisition by the Museum and, since it's arrival at the museum, has had a considerable amount of work done to it to make it ready for regular use within the museum and, hopefully, occasional use outside the museum too.
