OK so the Digital Photo magazine came through the door this morning and not much else has been done! My first attempt at the cube.
Ice cubes
Macro Mondays
Monday, December 1st Theme: Chilly Willy
Strobist:
Canon 430EX with OC-E3 and homemade diffuser
Flash placed left and close to the ice cubes
I've been busy, though not busy enough, with this year's SoFoBoMo -http://www.sofobomo.org/HomePage - and as I have chosen Yellow as my theme it was time to revisit the cube houses. I try to find something new each time I go - there are a wealth of photo opportunities to be had - but I still haven't managed to create the perfect star.
It's all about lining up the points but after a little while of looking up I can get a little dizzy and can no longer work out which direction I should move to centre the star perfectly. I think this is as good as I'm going to get, but no doubt I will try again next time I'm there!
A swarm of cubes after the Cube Project.
In a short period when the LEA AIR sims where free for a night and a day, i could test some more Cube swarms.
I didn't keep count but in total i used 7500 prims / 12 = 625 cubes = 5 x 5 x 5 x 5. Here you can see some images, but it would be better to film it, to see the behavior.
I used the swarm script of Apotheus Silverman.

I changed a few parameters and the behavior or state (flex or not flex)of the rootprim to get some control over the swarm.
Still every moment hundreds go off sim and end up in Lost an found folder.
The Cubes are 10m x 10m x 10m and each edge is formed by a 10 x 0.2 x 0.2 m Prim . The Swarm traveled over 2 sims (a sim is 256x256x4096m ) the day later it seemed they used all 20 sims :-) .
Paper: 7.5 cm Harmony
Modules: 6 face modules
Model: Meenakshi Mukerji
Book: Origami Inspirations p.31-32
I used harmony paper with white centre for Meenakshi's beautiful butterfly cube. That turned out very well for the butterflys (see other photo in my stream), white centres were decorated with matching glas pearls.
Very stable locking mode, hence no glue needed.
Edit: Replaced by a better photo.
Nissan Cube, On display at Birmingham's Bullring.
The updated Nissan Cube features more rounded and curved styling cues than its predecessors. This evolution is most striking in the rear bumper area, in the asymmetrical rear window, which wraps around to the passenger side, and in the oval-shaped driver and front passenger windows. The rear hatch is hinged to open along its vertical axis, towards the curb. This helps loading and unloading when street parking in a crowded urban environment.
A panoramic view of some cube houses located in the center of Rotterdam.
They are often considered a symbol of modern Dutch architecture.
Their shape makes for an interesting interior design I'm sure!

I'm selling those cubes at the Dutch Market for 10L each and 25L the fat pack.
They come in 3 colors and with a sitting position.
Hope you like them :)
Minimal, perhaps. Two segments. First I knit a zigzag in lighter yarn, attaching the zigzag to itself as I went. This formed half of the cube: 3/4 of 3 faces and 1/4 of 3 other faces: (3 * 3/4 face) + (3 * 1/4 face) = 3 faces, or half of a cube (6 faces). Then I knit a zigzag in darker yarn, attaching to the lighter colored zigzag and to itself as I went. At the very end, I had to graft together half of one edge of the cube.
