Water Cube, officially known as the Beijing National Aquatics Center, has been constructed to host the aquatics competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics and located in the Olympic Park in northern Beijing

The Cube Orange project comes from the Parisian studio Jakob+MacFarlane Architects and is part of the urban interventions of the old port of Lyon on the banks of the Saône , at a point called Confluence , because the Saône joins the Rhone right here.

This port area consisted of warehouses such as Sucrière, les Douanes, les Salins, the Capitainerie, which architects and landscape designers have reinterpreted to offer new sustainable spaces, avant-garde architecture and lots of greenery.

The Cube Orange is built on a regular grid (29 x 33 m) of concrete pillars on 5 levels. It has a light façade overlaid with another perforated façade with pixelated patterns that reflect the movement of the river. The orange colour is symbolic of red lead paint, an industrial colour used for port areas.

I will post the picture I started with in comments. I thought, if I submit something to this theme, I want to try something new. It wasn't so much about the original picture which I took this morning. I wanted to have something round and took my turquoise doughnut from the jewellery box and put it on a square bit of paper. Then I made 3 copies for different processing and got to work on this cube. Thanks BLTV for the tutorial.

... or Honeycombs

#MacroMonday

#Oranje/Orange

Get well soon, Hans, we are looking forward to when you will be back as group admin and also with new photo contributions to the MM group :)

Something I've always wanted to photograph with the extension tubes in order to get really close, but never got it quite right. Well, it's still far from perfect, but at least I managed to get a fairly sharp image of these tiny honeycomb cubes (size of each cube: 2x2 mm / 0,07x0,07 inches) this time. They are inside of a small orange spoke (or rear) reflector, a scratched, battered thing that must have fallen off a bicycle. I picked it up in the street one day, because I thought it might be useful for Macro Mondays one day. I've already used this once before for a theme, the "Lit by Candlelight" theme from December 2017 (you can find the photo in the third comment, I was too slow ;) ). And since Hans is Dutch, and the Netherlands are a bycicle country, I thought the reflector might be an appropriate subject for the Oranje / Orange theme :)

I've used both extension tubes (which gave me 26 mm on top of the 60 mm from my macro lens), the Raynox DCR-250 close-up lens and a +4 close-up filter. The result reminds me of an optical illusion, because I can see both the cubes and the honeycombs, but not at the same time. I hope it's not too confusing to look at. I had to do some extensive dust and "scratch bokeh" removal (some of the many scratches on the plastic surface appeared as bokeh spots, but not nice ones, when I focused on the inside of the reflector) with the healing brush to make it pleasant to look at, and only when I applied a slightly matte look in Analog Efex it looked right to me.

I have a very busy day today, so I hope I can catch up with you tonight. HMM, Everyone, stay safe!

The Cube is the name of the middle part in the new building of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Here's the view up. The exhibition rooms with contemporary and modern art are located around this central part on the individual floors. Very interesting, light-flooded architecture, which presents the exhibits largely in natural daylight.

On a gloomy Melbourne day, this shard of aqua glass glows in the glare of the filtered sunlight.

When I showed this photo to my nephew, he said I should call it "cube-aquatic". So I did. There are cubes of glass which make up the whole tower, and it looks like water. Logical.

It may not be immediately obvious, but the large building to the left is also almost entirely glass, and reflects the building across the road as well as the sky.

This is an in-camera multiple-exposure, something I enjoy immensely but often forget in my rush of enthusiasm to shake and bake an ICM.

The Stuttgart City Library - we missed it on our day trip as it was closed that day. Had to take another round trip train ride from Munich just to see the inside of this building for myself. It was worth it!
