Thank you all so much for all your comments favorites and awards

The cube-houses in Rotterdam were built almost 40 years ago. If you look at them, you wonder whether they are livable.

Water Cube, officially known as the Beijing National Aquatics Center, has been constructed to host the aquatics competitions at the 2008 Summer Olympics and located in the Olympic Park in northern Beijing

The Cube Orange project comes from the Parisian studio Jakob+MacFarlane Architects and is part of the urban interventions of the old port of Lyon on the banks of the Saône , at a point called Confluence , because the Saône joins the Rhone right here.

This port area consisted of warehouses such as Sucrière, les Douanes, les Salins, the Capitainerie, which architects and landscape designers have reinterpreted to offer new sustainable spaces, avant-garde architecture and lots of greenery.

The Cube Orange is built on a regular grid (29 x 33 m) of concrete pillars on 5 levels. It has a light façade overlaid with another perforated façade with pixelated patterns that reflect the movement of the river. The orange colour is symbolic of red lead paint, an industrial colour used for port areas.

Having a few corners left over from the fun I had with my plastic cubes, I found myself seeing what more I could make of the images. One in particular was very colorful so I started with that one. I duplicated it a bit and that started to look interesting, I then added the yellow from the corner I cut off and that gave a bit of light to the dark. With some nice color going, I was off to look for a bit of texture which led me to a camping trip folder and a window from the side of a wooden building in Maryland. Turns out I really like that shot and went ahead and processed it too. A stone stairway from a monument at Gettysburg Battlefield also caught my eye so I gave it a try and liked it. Many, many times I head down this path and the image just doesn't work so I go find another. Just as many times the whole thing gets shelved and I go do something else. Every so often, as the piece gets developed, I like what I see as was the case here with The Onlookers. All in all, I used four images and included a collage in the first comment.

Museum Square, Amsterdam

"Between the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum stands a cube-shaped object. As part of the Qpark underground parking facility, the structure houses air treatment systems and other technical installations. Both museums considered the building, which had been shrouded in brown tarpaulin for years, as an eyesore. So the two institutions teamed up with Qpark and Stadsdeel Zuid to invite designers to come up with a solution. Bureau Concern won the pitch to transform the object into a feature in greater harmony with the cultural and social significance of Museum Square.

The winning idea for the cube, a concept and design by artist Aziz Bekkaoui entitled ‘Calvin’s Mecca’, dates back to 2009."

Get well soon, Hans, we are looking forward to when you will be back as group admin and also with new photo contributions to the MM group :)

Something I've always wanted to photograph with the extension tubes in order to get really close, but never got it quite right. Well, it's still far from perfect, but at least I managed to get a fairly sharp image of these tiny honeycomb cubes (size of each cube: 2x2 mm / 0,07x0,07 inches) this time. They are inside of a small orange spoke (or rear) reflector, a scratched, battered thing that must have fallen off a bicycle. I picked it up in the street one day, because I thought it might be useful for Macro Mondays one day. I've already used this once before for a theme, the "Lit by Candlelight" theme from December 2017 (you can find the photo in the third comment, I was too slow ;) ). And since Hans is Dutch, and the Netherlands are a bycicle country, I thought the reflector might be an appropriate subject for the Oranje / Orange theme :)

I've used both extension tubes (which gave me 26 mm on top of the 60 mm from my macro lens), the Raynox DCR-250 close-up lens and a +4 close-up filter. The result reminds me of an optical illusion, because I can see both the cubes and the honeycombs, but not at the same time. I hope it's not too confusing to look at. I had to do some extensive dust and "scratch bokeh" removal (some of the many scratches on the plastic surface appeared as bokeh spots, but not nice ones, when I focused on the inside of the reflector) with the healing brush to make it pleasant to look at, and only when I applied a slightly matte look in Analog Efex it looked right to me.

I have a very busy day today, so I hope I can catch up with you tonight. HMM, Everyone, stay safe!

The Cube is the name of the middle part in the new building of the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Here's the view up. The exhibition rooms with contemporary and modern art are located around this central part on the individual floors. Very interesting, light-flooded architecture, which presents the exhibits largely in natural daylight.
